woodland edge shrub

karyls

this plant was growing in a dry woodland edge with considerable shade. The soil is clay and sandy loam, mixed but mostly pine woods. It was about 8' tall with a rounded shape and a main solid trunk, bark similar to a tree dogwood.

Flowering only occurred where the sun hit it and had just passed, blooms are viburnum like. I thought that it was viburnum prunifolium but one thing I missed grabbing an example of was there are single tiny leaves at the majority of leaf axils. I couldn't find any reference to V. prunifolium with similar growth.
