Wanted: Sedum rubrotinctom 'jelly beans' or r.Aurora
Comments (2)Thanks, woodthrush! :) I grow a lot of plants, but not a lot of sedums, so 8I wasn't sure how elusive this particular kind was and we really liked it when we saw it after googling another type of Succulent....See MoreWANTED: Simple'Sedum, 'Jelly Beans'
Comments (0)I am looking for a few of the simple plain ol' 'Jelly Bean' sedums. Yes the one that turns red in sunlight, the bigger green one that is just bigger and all green, and the Pink one, called 'Aurora'. I would love cuttings with roots, but unrooted cuttings would be ok. I know its a simple plant, and most people probably have them and think they are just 'junk' plants. But i like them, and dont have any. The pink one is fairly hard to get,I know that. I really dont have anything to trade,I am hoping someone has these and would be willing to share with a fellow gardener. Especially the pink one, and would be willing to send me some cuttings, I could cover shipping costs. I do have a huge Euph. 'Lactea White Ghost' that I can take cuttings off of, it is nearly all white, very little green on it. It is about 10yrs old and over 10 feet tall, and put some cuttings in a small priority box. Thats about all I have to swap....See MoreNeed help with my jelly bean plant
Comments (4)Is it cold near the window? This can happen when a plant gets too cold, maybe freezes. The soil it's in is definitely not good for this kind of plant. You need something that's looser and airier, and dries out really fast. These plants root very easily, so get a new pot and some new soil (try some cactus and succulent soil mixed half & half with perlite ... you can get both at stores like lowe's or home depot) and start over....See MoreSave my jelly bean succulent
Comments (4)I think the leaves will fall off with a hard stare! LOL I hope you kept the leaves. They root easily and you will get lots of babies from them. Just toss them on top of some potting mix, ignore them the only water when there are roots. Mine like it in the full sun - and yes, they do turn red! See the tiny ones in the lower left corner? Those are from leaves. These are on an elevated island in my yard. I lost mine due to a rare cold snap in the low 30s. I covered the plants, but unfortunately it had rained for 2 days before the dip in temp. But I did salvage some leaves and the Jelly Bean patch is making a comeback! LOL OH - when you cut the tops off, don't throw the bare stems away. They "may" back-bud for you and fill out with branches. And they may just wither away, but I always like to give it a chance. I've had both success and failure at it....See MoreBradley_J
