Name That Plant!

ID Request #3 - Woodland Plant

I've been going back and forth on what I think this one is so I'll ask the experts here what they think it is!

This plant is roughly 6-7" tall. Our spring has been cold. Plants are 2-3 weeks behind - bloodroot was blooming only within the last week. Many plants are only just sprouting now and with blooms quite a ways off. Location: Western NY State, typical northeastern hardwood (oak, ash, hickory, maple, etc.) woodland

Too early for me to say what #2 was but this one clearly appears to be Maianthemum racemosum.

1) Rubus spp - some kind of Blackberry or Raspberry. 2) Looks like a gall on a leaf. 3) A Hawkweed, Hieracium spp. 4) Red maple seedling with some kind of leaf spot disease on it. 5) Can't quite tell from the pictures - maybe Burdock, Arctium spp. Or some kind of Silphium spp - that would get yellow daisy-like flowers in the summer. Agreed, that is hepatica. It is one of the first to flower each spring in my woods, and bears clusters of delicate fowers ranging from white to lavender & pink. One of my favorite woodland plants! I have shared a few over the years at various swaps. Linda

wow! thanks everyone! #2 is definitely not hosta, because my "darling" deer would be all over them! ;-). I will watch to see of they flower, hadn't ever heard of Canadian Lilly of the Valley... Will also watch the other leaves for flowers.....Asters are native to the area. Gardenweb to the rescue, again! ;-). Thank you!

It appeared to be false solomon's seal to me but then I started to second-guess myself. I knew the folks here would confirm that or not! Thanks much for the responses!
