House plant identification

I found this picture on Pinterest, but after much searching I have not been able to identify it. Please help me out. Thanks!

My initial thought is that it doesn't "fit" in the sense that it might actually be artificial? Any clues from the source photo?

It's got to be fake, or a Truffula Tree from Dr. Seuss's The Lorax?

I believe its a hoya also.the long stem is just that, a long sten ,later leaves will come out.. the flowers will come from a lil nubbin , that you might thin is a leaf , so leave all nubbins alone...your hoya looks like it may have some vergation in it..BTW, most Hoyas have a wonderful fragence when they bloom...hope im right and hope this helps ya a lil,,,molly/ sewnmom7@yahoo.com

Now I'm puzzled as to why you asked for an id (using a photo dated 2015) if you already knew its name and had posted about it before? Your plant hasn't got typical Ixora foliage which is why I didn't recognise it. I'm thinking it could be Ixora 'Siam Ribbon' which has curled and distorted foliage. Reading up on its requirements I doubt it will flower in a terrarium as it likes full sun. Siam Ribbon

I think it's a real Dracaena marginata, trimmed to keep the tips even, painstakingly trained to have 1 top atop each trunk. A fake tree might have scars from previous pruning, those gnarly bends, but seems unlikely.

Another vote for fake/artificial plant! Using Google Image upload, I found this exact photo used around the world (online) for a variety of articles, companies, blogs, etc. describing/selling indoor plants!! Not a one I looked at named the plant in this photo...and I looked at a couple dozen! All went on about the virtues of indoor plants cleaning the air, & how to create a microclimate for indoor plants, how to use plants for quick decorating, etc. The photos used have info listed mostly as "indoor plant", with a couple having tall, decorative indoor plant & one calling it "ornamental". It was a riot!

LOL~ a tree from the Lorax movie came to my mind as well !

I would say this is a stock photo used for a multitude of indoor decorating sites.

I thought it might be a variety of Xanthorrhoea.

Definately NOT a Xanthorrhoea. The stems are way too thin and because of the extremely slow growth rate, they would have to be hundreds of years old. Growth rate is in the order of 1-3cm per year.
I agree that this probably came out of a plastics factory

I'm on the fake side. Who knows what kind of plant that those interesting trunks came from. My first thought was that they (the twisty trunks) spent their previous years as a liana of some kind, now recruited as a decorating accessory. They might even be imitation, as well. Probably a silk (or other fabric) contrivance for the 'hat '.

I'm sure the more experienced are correct, wish it wasn't so blurry.

The pics of D. marginata in tropical locations show that they grow that way. It would be possible to have a real tree like that, whether this one is plastic or not. {{gwi:161802}}, {{gwi:161803}}, {{gwi:161804}}.
