Will the future club members want to keep this project going or do you consider it just a one-time thing with you and your committee? The reason for that question is to see what kind of expense you will want to pour into it. I think you can appeal to the students and their parents for the first donation of seeds or plants/plant cuttings. There are many plants that could grow this way without having to buy even the seeds from a store or even buying clearance plants to keep things cheap. You also have to check what kind of sun or shade conditions those beds are in, to have an idea of what might go there. You will also have to consider about soil. Flowers do not need as much attention as vegetables do, so growing in native soil with a few amendments would be fine, but if you choose to go with more costly soil mixes, then that will factor into your budget also.

As a retired teacher, I have to echo purpleinopp's post as far as knowing how to use different resources (and people are a resource) and finding info. An additional skill that is much needed is knowing how to discern whether or not the info is true, and remembering that just because you read or hear something, it isn't necessarily true. If the OP is an advanced biology student worried about his/her grade, the first thing that student will most likely do after getting info from this site is to confirm it. And therein lies a lot of learning. If there is a true desire to help learning and not just spoon feed info, it would be useful to provide one reason for each suggestion...that would give the OP a place to start with a confirmation. #5...I'm sure I'm off base since it hasn't been suggested, but the first thing I thought of looking at #5 was an oenothera...based on the shape of what I think is a flower bud or seed pod, and, again what I think I see, the stigma. As others have said, it is difficult to discern details when the flowers have been dried and pressed, and in these photos, even colors.

By the prices seen at this site, old school desks used in country schools range from $30 to $100 per set. One set has the desk top with a seat for the next desk in front of it. The link below shows a desk with a fold-up top. These are more rare than the fixed top variety. One of the views shows a book storage bin. The book storage on fixed top desks was under the desk top. I spent my first 8 years of schooling sitting in a fixed top desk in a one room country school. Typical wood of the desk was oak. A row of desks was created by fastening the desks to two 1" thick strips of wood. A typical row contained 3 to 5 desks. These rows of desks could be moved to facilitate house keeping and rearranging.
