Nimi, i have 2 mini den.delicatum and one stick one with some leaves, just don't want you to expect a Huge plant, i have only cuttings and 2 little minis :) yes, they are the australian dends, i don't water them that much in the winter time, i just bring them indoors. if you are still interested in trading, let me know. if you want, i can including some flower seeds, like hollyhocks, violas, hostas, morining glories, marigolds, etc. :) oh, ur email is overloaded, i can't get through you! Once upon a time, there was a very patient husband who accompanied his wife to all the orchid shows and carried her purchases without complaint. He built her a beautiful trellis for her orchids as well as a wonderful bench for her balcony so that she could see her orchids from her bedroom. He purchased a nice trellis for their front yard where he planned to hang his hoya collection but allowed his wife to take it over for her orchids. One day at an orchid show, he saw an orchid that he thought was the nicest one he had ever seen. It had long canes with lovely lavender flowers. The grower told him it was Dendrobium aphyllum. Knowing that his wife didn't grow Dendrobiums, he thanked the vendor and walked on but often thought about that lovely plant. He finally mentioned it to his wife, who said she would try to find one for him in the spring. . . and spring has sprung. That's my entry, Carolyn. If you pick it, I'll be happy to send postage. From the link that Tom posted in the other thread (that really was a good link) it would appear that the red and blue LED's emit the entire frequency band of their respective colors. That eliminates one worry regarding their use but there still remains two: red + blue = purple. Remember those purple gro-lux bulbs from the 80's? They knew back then that purple light minimized 'waste' frequencies of light that plants didn't use but the result of using purple light proved not to be all that impressive in plant growth results. You only get the purple by using the red and blue lights together, that is how they are designed to be used. But the main drawback as I see it (get it?) is that purple light is very difficult to enjoy. White light LED's are now widely available as stick on spot lights for under counter use and inside closets, etc. The specialist plant LED people are still charging hundreds of dollars for systems that make useful amounts of purple light. The white light LED's can easily beat that because by becoming widely available the price drops to the point where you can combine several units to get the power you need and still stay under $100, probably under $50 for the typical windowsill size growing area.
