Fence Post

If one wants to build a long-lasting fence in our area, they go down to the feed mill and on the bulletin board, they'll find farmers selling locust posts. It's a common forest tree here, and the wood far outlasts the pressure treated posts you buy in stores. This is part of a fence put up nearly eighty years ago to separate the "yard" from the pastures in which animals were grazed. Some of the fence is still intact, and in use! I knew the man who put up this fence in the 1930s. We removed the dilapidated boards and left the post intact to this section, and tiger lilies have taken over and wrapped their arms around it.
