My rose had no winter die back in zone 5 or 6 , even the winter we went to -24. The foliage in the picture of the old moss look like the correct shape but my rose had darker green foliage. The bloom was more double but that can vary from one bloom to the next. I have seen photos of the common Old Moss where the bloom looked right but the foliage was wrong. My son was 4 when we found this rose and he still remembers - I hate to tell him it is all gone....Thanks for your interest.

How about making up a web journal on this species using your images and commentary on the moss and where it grows and what the habitat is like and the seasonal changes with measurements on temperatures, foot candles of exposure, amount of rainfall, snowfall, etc??? The species is Thuidium delicatulum (my spelling may be wrong) Check out the link below. I recommend saving it on your favorites. It would be impossible to id these mosses just by the images alone. In fact only those bryologists who specialize in tropical mosses might be able to get a close approximation as to the genus of each. There is such a person who has developed a database of mosses in this area of the world. Click the link below to access his site and then I would see if there is an email link to contact him.
