HAVE: Seeds from heirloom 6' tall bush w/ lovely, shiny, small green leaves. In Spring, it gets tiny pink/white flowers shaped like teacups. And in Autumn, it has purplish-blue berries. As I am unable to identify the bush, I believe them to be NON-EDIBLE. The leaves turn a lovely shade of pinky-peachy-gold in Autumn. KDK6, It's a wax leaf privet. I have 3 of them. Don't allow your dog to eat any berries from shrubs, just to be on the safe side. I have a bichon too, and she is kept on a lead so she doesn't get in my gardens. They aren't high energy dogs. The privets do smell very good in April abd May when they flower. I use them for evergreen privacy.

I know it is an invasive in the States but in its natural habitat it is a valuable wildlife pant. It provides a very good source of nectar late in the year and then berries for the birds. Not to mention its role as cover for all sorts of invertibrates and birds. If you take a cutting of the arborescent stage you can grow it as a small tree and it will remain in this form, not reverting to a vine.

I am also looking for the name of a green leaf shrub. It keeps it's leaves throughout all seasons; small purple berries grow (like grapes) in the winter. In spring it has tiny white to yellow flowers (somewhat sweet aroma). I have heard it called Wax Leaf Agusta; but cannot find that name any where. It looks very similar to a Red Tip, but these never have red leaves. It can get the size of a medium size tree if left untrimmed. I would like to know the name so I can find out if the berries of poisonous. My Bischon really wants to eat them and I have tried to be very careful with him around the berries when they are on the ground. I really need to know what this is. By the way, I am in Central Texas-Zone 8. Thanks
