honda hra 214 sx won't start in damp weather

Honda HRA 214 SX - has been a great mower. Now having issues starting up on damp days. It's normally in a brick base insulated shed. On damp days, it simply won't start.

On other days, if I drag it outside and leave it in the sun for about 1/2 hour, it start up with no problems.

I've had the top off it and can't see any condensation area issues. The plug gets spark, and even spraying "quick start" down the carb intake doesn't help.

Is it the coil that may be the issue? Anyone with similar problems?

Thanks,

Sounds like a bad coil. Only way to test is with a Merc-o-tronic, which is a professional piece of equipment. If you can get your hands on a known good coil, you can test by substitution.

Unfortunately a new coil is pricey; about $80 from Plano Power for 30500-ZG9-M04.

I also believe it may be the coil. I had a similar problem with the coil (replaced it) about 5 years back.

    Thanks for your reply...
