I got my soil test back today and it reads as follows:

Front yard:

PH = 6.3

Buffer PH = 7.75

P = 145 lbs/acre

K = 105

Ca = 2377

Mg = 452

Zn = 4.8

Mn = 48

B = 0.3

Cu = 1.4

Na = 29

CEC = 10

Acidity = 2

Total Base Saturation = 80%

Recommend: 6 lbs 15-0-15 per 1000 sq ft

Back yard:

PH = 7.0

Buffer PH = 7.75

P = 19 lbs/acre

K = 72

Ca = 7123

Mg = 813

Zn = 2.8

Mn = 90

B = 0.7

Cu = 2.6

Na = 80

CEC = 23.5

Acidity = 2

Total Base Saturation = 91%

Recommend: 2 lbs of 0-46-0 and 6 lbs of 16-4-8 per 1000 sq ft.

My questions are:

1. I need to overseed/reseed. The front yard got very spindly this year. New seedlings from last fall started great, grew very fast, then turned very light green and died in the heat. Looks like they did not root well. Back yard started very slow, then grew pretty full, but was overrun by weeds and heat.

2. Should I apply starter fertilizer in the front yard when I overseed? Or just the 15-0-15 as recommended?

3. Why is the Ca so high? I limed the front yard about 4 months ago, but not the back. I only used 100 lbs on 5000 sq ft.

4. What does CEC and base saturation mean?

5. What are the symptoms of excessive phosphorus or a phosphorous deficiency? I am beginning to convince myself I mixed the front and back yards samples up...

Thanks for the help!
