Germination tempertures for poa annua

This past spring, I had a deluge of poa annua. Maybe because the spring was so wet, or maybe just because poa does what poa wants.

Anyway, in researching poa at that time, I understood that the time to fight it is in the fall because that's when it germinates; it just really shows itself the following spring. If I am correct in my understanding, then now is the time to start thinking about preemergent for the poa.

So, does anyone know at what temperatures it germinates? I will be away the last 2 weeks of August till Labor Day. I had thought I'd be safe if I waited till I got back to put down my preemergent. But, the weather here in New York has been so wet and the evenings so cool that my grass looks amazing (as opposed to its usual stressed self this time of year). So, that got me thinking that poa may come a early this fall.

Any thought are appreciated.
