I saw this post sometime during the night, and was going to reply. Came to the bottom of the page, clicked to start the reply and everything disappeared. I went back to the main page and the post was no longer there. I went to another site, came back and the post was still not there!
I don't know where it went, but it is back this morning.
Anyway, I like the sled-you did an excellent job with it.

My sled revanped...small metal sled on it with 2 dolls and trim and my can snowman...do you think he is singing carols or moaning, lol. I used some silver and blue paint wiped on it with a paper bag. Says Merry Christmas on steering bar but hard to see at this angle. The metal is faded red and rusty. June

Love the sleds. I'd stop to say more, but I have some basement rummaging to do. I know we have one or two old ones down there...and a tobaggon! I can't paint, either. But I can stencile!

Ohhhhh June, I love your sled and the silver and blue paint is fantastic. I recently saw an old sled at Goodwill, they wanted $30 for it. I'm tempted but I've got so much winter decorations and I'm not sure if that is too much to pay or not. I'm like a crow, I see something shiny and I want it. It looks very much like yours.

thanks, I had fun doing it this year and last. Last year I had it out back outside the dining window. Afraid someone would steal it. This year I put put front but wired it to the pink jasmine vine trellis that is nailed or screwed to front post. I can paint also but I like changing stuff out each year a bit...guess it is as easy to change it as it is to clean it up, lol. But if I paint a scene on it, it would kill me to redo next winter, lol. This is a GS $4 or $5 find a couple of years ago. I had one long ago but it went with the kids as they grew up I guess. this one is a very old one also...can just see the labeling and the varnish that covered it. So it was beyond save for an antique. June

Love how you painted your sled. I can't paint, but I might be able to decoupage something on my sled. I am getting so many good ideas for outdoor Christmas decorating on these old threads.

I also have an old one a friend gave to me and I stand it by the garage door again an old "parking meter" from my town growing-up days. I add pine boughs and a pair of old black ice skates hanging from it. I'm so impressed with all the ideas on this site...the beautiful white ice skates with decoupage ... and now these sleds! I love all these sleds and ice skates as well! I'm from the part of Texas that doesn't get snow, so I'm envious of all these treasures. Our sledding consisted of a cardboard box sliding down the dirt river bank.
And a "taboggon" was the knit cap you wore on top of your head. You should have seen the look on a friend's face in Colorado when I told her I had to wear my toboggon!
My DH had a pair of ice skates from his growing up years in Colorado. Then we moved to Texas and I thought why is he keeping these things? Oh! I sure hope I haven't tossed them out! Now I've got plans for them.
