Craftsman vs. Toro...what am I missing?

User

Ok, a while back I was asking about fixing the front drive mechanism on a Craftsman 6.75 Eager-1 mower, model 917.377582 with a Tecumseh engine 143.996704. I got it free from a neighbor who was throwing it out. Well, I replaced the main drive gear and worm gear and the mower works great. Also replaced the air filter, fuel line, spark plug, cleaned the carb, and sharpened the blade. Now I have a self-propelled mower to substitute for my 6-year old push Toro Recycler (which still runs great). What I'm surprised at is it seems that the Craftsman mulches better than the Toro. Fewer and smaller clumps of grass left behind. From all the talk of Craftsman being lower on the pecking order compared to Toro, I was pleasantly surprised. So, what am I missing? Does the Craftsman bent blade design (formed with two cutting levels on each end) mulch better than the Toro flat blade design with the two "wings" at the ends? Just curious?
