Planting blueberries in high pH soils

My local soil has a pH of about 7. If I dig a hole say three feet across and two feet deep and fill it with peat and fir bark, can I grow a blueberry plant in it? Will the local soil over time drop the pH of the ammended soil? Will the roots grow out of the ammended soil and stop growth? What if I lined the hole with something and leave drainage at the bottom?
