Service repair gone bad

I recently took my Sutech Stealth push mower in as the drive belts were not engaging properly. When I got it home, I noticed that the clutch has MUCH stiffer/tighter than before I brought it in. I figured I could live with it - just work on those hand muscles... So off I went for my first mow, within 5 minutes the belt for the blades (? - I'm not sure the mechanical name) snapped. Instead of bringing it in for a repair I bought and installed the belt myself. A week later I was back in business; however, when I engage the blades it will every few minutes disengage. I never had this problem before. It is extremely frustrating as I am constantly re-engaging the blade. Any ideas on what is going on?

Thanks
