There are a couple threads on the GW/Stained Glass/Mosaic side on the subject, but it ISN'T windshield glass - it's window safety glass. I posted a box top I covered in it.

Oh, BREAK, I'm sorry - I should have searched for that site for you cuz she's the one who inspired me to pursue the crash glass stuff, and I had forgotten who it was. I've been in a fog all week, helping my daughter move, and had forgotten that you responded to my posting on the other side. Another Senior Moment. The artist on Fridge Queen was so kind to respond to all my questions and point a "Novice of Everything" in the right direction. The stuff is fun to work with but won't be my favorite medium

Thanks for the help, I realized I should have searched the mosaic side, after I posted, talk about senior. There is a wreck on my corner a least once a week, made me think about using the glass. Not sure I will, I am still trying to figure out all this mosaic stuff with out starting something new. Fridge Queen is awesome.

I used crash glass (yep, swept up off the street after crashes) as strata in an aquarium. Decorations were broken glass items -- a great big clear glass urn and a few brandy snifters and other fancy wine glasses. I was going to populate it with blue gouramis but ended up (thanks to soft-hearted granddaughter) with guppy soup from all the remaining feeder guppies at the pet shop. I LOVED that tank. It was beautiful. Broken when moved -- even when I begged them NOT to move it!

Where does one get such glass? I remember as a kid we would break our neighbor's VW bug windshields, and they would explode. Pretty cool sound. (Sorry I was a very bad kid).

I remember,,,, who was the little bald guy that was one of the first home decor showhosts? Anyway he did a show on it.Painted a coffee table black then gold leafed it then added the glass and then black grout.
Any auto Glass repair place should be happy to let you recycle it.

Was his last name Lowe or something like that? I remember my mom watching him, prior to my interest in gardening and house stuff.

Do the windshield places hand over broken glass, or whole glass? I'd hate to have to transport it!
