Hi there~

Finally got around to taking a few pictures of my front porch fall decorations! I love fall! And finding new garden/yard junk! Got all of my porch chickens at area TS. Cheap! Cheap! Cheap!

Great fall collection!!! Also adore your wicker!!! And the entrance is so welcoming. I would drink hot apple cider with cinnamon on that porch with you and with tenderlee's "Lil Goblin"!

Good Afternoon, Ladies and Gents! Josh, thank you. Will your Jades keep color over winter? Your Skinny Fingers is extremely red. Btw, is Skinny Fingers, Hobbit or Gollum? I still get the two mixed-up. :) A few posts below, you posted a photo of your Hobbit. You wrote 'mother and daugher.' Is daugher attached to mother? If so, will they be together, or removed to form a tree-shape standard/solo trunk? You also wrote, 'another beautiful day in northern CA.' What were temps that morning? One more question. :) You said, 'Hobbit in the light of the rising sun.' Are Crassulas in an east window? No more questions...Not at the moment anyway. lol Rob... I had no choice but to leave Jades outside when temps dipped below 32F. So far so good, however, during the day, temps are between 40-50F, nights 29-34. They're predicting 60F from Tues-Fri, although like you said, weather doesn't listen to the forecast. lol. Think I'm going to place a small table on the front porch, set Jades out during the day, then bring in at night. Today, the third of Nov is the first day we've had actual sun! If you've ever seen The Wizard of Oz, picture the twister scene. Remember the sky and wind? That's what the last 5 days resembled. :) Kuroc. Patience is the key..it seems some Jades grow faster than others. Your Jades will soon be tall and wide, then you will not know where to set them come winter. Mike, thank you..Tidy? You should see the mess after a windy day/night.. Or when I'm cleaning, and plants do the domino thing. lol. Toni

What a beautiful tree you have in your front yard Caroline. So many of the maples around here are still showing extensive damage from the ice storm as are many other trees. My parents have two hard maples that were badly damaged and used to be so pretty. It just makes me sad to see a beautifully colored tree that has the top half missing and shaped so badly. Yours looks great. Your October Blaze is going to have wonderful color Gld. That may be what I see in town that's one of my favorites. There are some that look good every year and hold their fall color for a long time. There's one called October Glory that I think is planted a lot. We planted Autumn Blaze (I think) and red maples and none of them have outstanding color.

Thanks, brutuses, trailrunner, & lindybarts, my compatriot :) brutuses, yes, at long last I'm finally getting to finish the last part of the backsplash for the darn kitchen that brought us here in 2004! I had to put it on hold while we did the rest of the downstairs. I took it out to do even though we'll be starting on DD's bath upstairs imminently. That project is killing my right hand, though, so I *did* get a grinder, btw :) (bought from eBay yesterday--I'm so excited to receive it--I'd asked folks on the mosaic list about what grinder to get--this one looks good because it mounts at an angle so I can sit down and grind and avoid "mosaic neck", in addition to saving my right hand from the grinding stick. It's the only one that's designed this way--it should be marketed as the ADA grinder or the grinder for the AARP crowd or something like that :) -- I expect it will get more and more market share as folks age) trail, the garage door is not new yet -- it's just cleaned up and painted. When I get the new one it will have windows, probably (unless Dh objects at last minute) and fit with the house better. OH, and DD is starting cross-country this year (the longest she's competed in is 3K before, but that's on a track) -- any tips for handling uneven terrain? lindy, thanks for sticking up for the house numbers. What's cool is that all those colors (I do love color--kind of a maximalist modernist? :)) in the numbers are picked up in the landscape, and you can see them both in the same field of vision. Sorry neighbors, no simple painted wood plaque at this house :))

Sorry for throwing that pic in of the grandkid, it was sorta off topic, but thanks garden buddies about the grandkids. Sure have changed my life! Not much time for gardening any more, but who cares? At least the yard is mostly perinneals, not much maintenance with them. And after taking over 100 potted plants into the basement yesterday for winter storage, I've decided to sell at least half of them next spring. Way to much maintenance, grandma's getting too old for all that work lol.

Jeanne and Marlene, did you notice that you're in my favorites at photobucket? Love your albums. Susierose that cider sounds so inviting, and Jan that's right I can't resist kissing the grandkids constantly! Can you imagine how neat our neighborhood would be if we could all live on the same street? lol ~tenderlee

Marlene, I love your cheap chickens, as well as all of your fall decorations. Just beautiful!!! Like you, all of my decorations came from thrift stores or yard sales.

Shysue great pics of your porch! The old wagon is so cool, and the way you have it set up with the little rocking chair & stuff.

Then I had a stroll over to your main page. After looking at about 2 pages, I couldn't believe it. You have got it going on girl!

Wow you ladies are very gifted and talented. Shysue, I spent over an hour at photo bucket looking at all your pictures. You are so creative and gifted. How many years have you spent on your yard and garden?? Love it!

Tenderlee and Clarejoe, thank you for your compliments. I never thought of myself as creative. Since I spent three years, after I retired, lurking here on Garden Junk getting more and more inspired, I feel I owe it all to the talented people here. I finally got brave enough to join the group last year and am so glad I did!

It all looks awesome! Shysue, I love the wreath on your door but then I'm a sucker for fall colors. Tenderlee, love that lil Goblin of yours! What a sweetheart! Now you just have to gear up the grandkids to help you in the garden. ;^) Marlene, I really like those chickens and jugs of yours. And I like your little tub filled with rocks too. I was also admiring your light fixture of all things. lol! Can't wait to see what you do for Christmas!

I had a difficult time getting a picture of my front porch decor because of the way it is located behind the shrubs or around the corner from the other end, but here's a couple of pictures, such as they are.
I had the bench and some of the pumpkins in the front yard for Halloween, but moved them all to the porch today.

Well thot I'd pop in and give my 2 cents worth. Talent??? We have talent???? Even tho summer is my favorite because of the weather, I do so love fall because of the most beautiful colors that create warmth. Hats off to all who posted pics. Wonderful job.

Everyone's photos are wonderful, I love Fall decor. Phoenix stays green, so seeing the beautiful colors in your yards and on your porches is a treat.
At least the 90's hopefully ended this past weekend and I can enjoy being outside again.

Marlene, I am a huge "decorating with Roosters" person and I am enjoying seeing all of your roosters in your display. Fantastic. I am absolutely loving those wrought iron scroll works you are displaying also. Those are so beautiful. I'm jealous.
