Are you keeping it watered?

Yep, I'm still watering 3 times a day. The areas that are doing really well have 4 inch tall grass and then there are areas than have less than 1 inch tall grass and a few spots with just dirt. Doesn't Bermuda send out runners and eventually fill in bare areas?

Did you seed with common bermuda or one of the improved varieties? Yes, bermuda does send out runners (stolons) and will eventually fill in the bare areas with proper care.

Can you post a picture?

I don't remember what kind of bermuda, but it was the Scott's brand. Here are some pictures. As you can see, I do have a lot of weeds growing in the far end of the lawn due to the watering but I figured that the bermuda would eventually choke those out as well.

You need to push that bermuda.....HARD! The more it grows, the sooner you mow, and the sooner it spreads. It's not going to spread agressively until you mow it. Right now it is only growing vertically, not laterally. You want those stolons to start developing, and that will only happen agressively when you start mowing.

I would suggest using 46-0-0 urea nitrogen fertilizer. Apply every 2 weeks at 1 lb. N/ 1000 sq.ft. for the next 6-8 weeks. Water it in immediately afterwards with 10-15 minutes of water per station. If you can't find 46-0-0, then use 34-0-0 on the same schedule.

The above suggestion is a bit more agressive than what is normally recommended on this forum, but I've used it to agressively grow-in newly sprigged bermudagrass on golf courses for over 20 years, so I know it works. Just make sure you are applying the correct amount of fertilizer, and water it in immediately after applying! With 46-0-0, you will not be applying a lot of material...a little bit goes a long way. If you can, apply the high-nitrogen fertilizer when the grass is dry. Turn your water off the evening before you are going to fertilize so that no water is applied for about 18 hours prior to fertilizing. Water after fertilizing, and then resume the regular watering schedule.

I assume you are using a rotary mower. First, get your mower blade sharpened! This is very important. As soon as any of the grass is about 3 inches high, set your mower height around 2" and mow with a sharp mower blade. Collect the clippings if possible for the first few mowings.

Bermuda will not fill in where the weeds are in the shade. In the sun it is a 50/50 proposition. Some broadleaf weeds will shade out the bermuda.

I'm concerned that the soil is below the concrete. Does water puddle up when you irrigate? Or does it sink in pretty well? How deep below the concrete is the soil?

The water sinks in pretty well. The lawn is being watered 3 times a day for 5 minutes and there aren't really any puddles. It is about 1-2" below the concrete.

Should I spread more seed on the bare areas in the shade? Should I pull out the weeds on the far end? I was told not to walk on the newly seeded area but if the weeds are going to stop the bermuda from growing in some areas, I guess I will need to get rid of the weeds.
