Need Lawnboy coil for 6259

reassembling my 6259 mower and cant find the coil anywhere. it has staggered legs and the other 3 coils i have wont fit...

Anyone have one that will work for sale?

How about the serial number. I think there are a few different part numbers listed for that model.

"99-2911 99-2916 92-1152 684048 all will work on Duraforce" I am confused a bit...when I look at the RCWP website...they link 99-2916, 92-1152, 684048, and 684049 together as superseded/current parts and the cost is $38.78. And 99-2911 is listed alone and not linked to other parts and lists for $32.43. And 99-2911 is the part number for all my later model Duraforces. Are we still saying all are the same? Can one save money and go with 99-2911 for all year Duraforces?? Could the older models be better made than the 99-2911?

Go to Ace hardware and get some "plyobond" I hope I spelled it correct. You will also have numerous other uses for it around the garage also. It stays flexible and is gas and all the other bad stuff resistant. I doubt the backfire is caused by the coil though. Try the air adjust screw or the float may be going bad. Reed plate may need replaced also. Is the coil gapped at the proper gap? Is the flywheel key intact and not sheared a bit? Check and get the backfire under control.

One: Fzb voiced the advice i was about to offer , upgrade to a better component . Also should the unit fail again after your baking solution , check all area Dealer's Mechanics (on the side) most of them do work on the side at Home and Hord numerous electrical components for emerg. situations. I have picked up numerous Coils Ignition Modules etc. from Dealer Mechanics or the Dealership themselves for 1/2 Price. Actually had a few offer the part free from their junk pile since I was a regular customer lol . As for the Belt Drive have not worked on any only Craftsman Models two pulleys one belt , if the crank turned so did the drive belt with the Bail Switch Engaged lol .

Hmmm, something fishy about that. Let me ask, have you at any time heard this mower run? On the newer "F" series engines the coil should only have one wire. On the older "F" engies that did not have flywheel brake (compliance mechanism) they had two wires that ran to the swich mounted to the shroud. Too me it sounds like someone put an older style coil on it thinking they were the same. They look alike but don't act alike. One is "open to run" and one is "closed to run" You would have spark by disengaging the bail. Of course then the flywheel brake will not allow you to start the engine then. Do you get my drift here? You could disable the flywheel brake so the bail would fall back and you could start it but I don't recommend using the mower like this. But you could determine if the coil would start it though. few different models will work. 100-2949, 100-2948.

I dont want to spend an arm and a leg getting this mower working. I'm probably just going to turn around and sell it cheaply.

Oh, i wanted to add, I was reassembling my 10201 yesterday with the cables I got from echoman. Cleaned it all meticulously and put it back together.. no spark

Remembering a thread from here, I took the coil off and heated up the legs with my propane torch for a few mins on each leg. The potting compound was bubbling a bit, steam escaping, etc. I let it get hot and put it back on my mower. Fired up second pull!. I now have a strong spark and its working great. So glad someone shared that tip....

Aside from a few scuff marks on the side, the mower looks pretty good. Hard to believe I found it upside down with the handlebars disconnected and lying a few feet from it at the local recycle yard. Guess they pitched it when it stopped sparking. I had to soak the carb in gas and then brush it all down with an old toothbrush. I then went completely through it and cleaned everything, all orifices, etc. Normal R & R for neglect.

Glad you got the 201 up and running. You may need a new coil anyway for that engine as many are finding the "baking" trick to be short lived. Very for my situation. I just put a new coil on my revived 301 I bought from a local shop for $25. I believe there is a coil that will work for you now on ebay for $36 and change. Check into it.

yeah, i saw that.. the mower isnt worth it though. There is no way I could sell that mower for $40.00, let alone the $45.00 I already have in it, plus more for another coil.

And I need another mower like I need another hole in my head, its just a horrible addiction....

The mower sat outside all night in pouring rain and started right up this morning on the 2nd pull..

Yeah, I hear ya on the "another mower" thing! I call it a "good addiction" though.
