Lawnboy Duraforce 10323
Comments (6)Hippy your Duraforce mowers are made by Toro.Toro bought Lawn-Boy from OMC in 1989. They introduced the Duraforce nine years later in 1998.(not the early 90s) Lawn-Boy was a huge segment of the market and Toro tried to keep them going in my opinion. During those first 10 or 12 years of Toro ownership they had several Lawn-Boy 2-cycle designs in production: the M series , the F engine, the V series, and the Duraforce. Blame the demise of the 2 cycle mower on the EPA. Exhaust emission regulations got so strict that the 2 cycle mowers couldn't pass. Because of these regulations Toro just stopped making the 2 cycle mowers. One of the most highly regarded 2 cycle mowers ever produced was not a Lawn-Boy branded mower but in fact a Toro commercial mower with a Suzuki 2-cycle engine....See MoreLawnboy Duraforce exhaust port cleaning
Comments (6)That's right, and the special sealant is required. When a Duraforce spits black crud out, it has been running too rich or has water in the fuel. Yours is because the raw fuel leaking in after shut-down collects in the transfer pipe and is blown through the muffler collecting carbon on the way out. Definitely get the carb fixed and the in-line fuel valve is an excellent idea on any mower. Chances are with the lean-running Duraforce and today's improved oils you will never have to clean the ports....See More1984 lawnboy (smoke)
Comments (35)Stainless steel needle on a brass seat will wear less quickly than the others you mentioned. Either needle tip works fine. You may want to install a small inline fuel filter to help keep crud from flowing through and keeping the needle from seating properly. Even though Lawn Boy claims to use "tank filters" or even inline screen filters like found on the metal Walbro carbs, I've had small pieces filter through to hold the needle open enough to drain the tank out overnight by flooding through the carb and out the airbox. Some recommend fuel valve shutoffs, but I've had good luck by installing filters after carb overhauls....See MoreLawnboy exhaust port cleaning.... silicone sealant?
Comments (3)It's not a muffler cover - it's the transfer pipe cover. It's a U-shaped exhaust pipe that carries the through-the-deck exhaust back up into the muffler inlet. There is no particular urgency to having it sealed at all. At worst you would get a minor exhaust leak under the mower if the transfer pipe was leaking. If the exhaust ports are clogged any at all, be sure to also check the transfer pipe and muffler. Clogged ports on this engine are rare, but possible depending on if it's been operated in a rich condition for extended periods....See Moreneilaz
