Stalling Lawn-Boy DuraForce
Comments (15)The first thing you have to do is get the engine off the mower. The drive pulley must be removed because it won't fit through the opening in the mounting plate. Most likely the seal 'popped out' and is still in good condition. According to the book, the crankcase is supposed to be opened to properly replace or re-seat a seal, but I remember others posting on here that they did it without cracking the case. You can download the 'E' engine shop manual on the Lawn-Boy site which goes into detail. If the seal is only partially out, you may be able to re-seat it by using a seating tool (piece of pipe) over the crankshaft and pressing/hammering it back into place. This is why you have to get the engine off the mounting plate, to access the seal area, remove or replace a seal and to slip the tool down the crankshaft....See MoreLawn Boy 10323 No Spark, Cooking Recipe, Min Throttle Response
Comments (15)Replace the coil as previously stated. I never had much luck wasting time baking old ones. Until something better comes out, we are stuck replacing the stock ones. Regarding the surging, it is a common problem for the lean Duraforce carb but easily corrected. Take that pilot jet out and make sure the tiny orifices are clean. Use some real thin wire, like a single piece of stranded wire. Then reinstall snug, not loose. I would pull the carb off (only takes a minute!) and remove the four screws on the bottom and pull off the float cover. The main jet has a cup screen on it which pulls right off. Clean the main jet with the strand of wire as well and blow it out with air. Reinstall cup screen, float cover and carb. This should cure the surging. If you still have some surging, you can open them up a hair with a numbered drill set. This procedure has been discussed to death here as well as other sites. But if you get to that point and cannot find through search, repost and we will give you the add'l info....See MoreLawn Boy 10525 Dura Force excessive smoking at start
Comments (3)2-cycles do not smoke because of wear. It's always from excessive oil in the cylinder. This is caused by too much oil in the fuel or too much fuel getting into the engine. On the Duraforce, make sure you're moving the throttle off 'choke' position as soon as it starts. In your case, I wouldn't even use the choke or primer. If fuel is leaking down into the engine, it should be plenty rich for starting. In the short term, install a fuel valve on the fuel line between the tank and carburetor and turn it off after every use. Sometimes the float is just stuck, and all you have to do is pick up the back of the mower about 6" and drop it a few times. Does wonders for stuck floats. Additionally, you might consider adding 1 oz/gal of Marvel Mystery Oil to your mix to add cleaning power. 2-cycles love this oil....See MoreLawn-Boy Duraforce Rejetting...one experience
Comments (5)My LawnBoy(10323) is in the shop but a loaner was given to me for use and it is a snapper CP21400R2 and except for the staggered wheels of the LawnBoy-which makes it turn more easly, this Snapper seems to be great. Question: are any 2 cycle lawn mowers available anywhere new? I hope to get my 10323 back and running and this loaner is not for sale. What can I do about getting a backup 2 cycle self propelled? Thanks to an earlier member's help with boreing out my Lawnboy carb-it made all of the difference in the world. The latest link about putting Locltite to hold the jet in place may be my problem now with the LawnBoy in the shop....See More1saxman
