Zoysia vs. St Augustine

Hi All,

I just laid 2,000 sq feet of St. Augustine Del Mar sod in my back yard. The area where I put that down is relatively shady but should do well with the Del Mar. As you can imagine it was expensive (and a pain) to put that down, but, I wanted to do that because my neighbor has St. Augustine and I didn't want any seeded variety I put down to encroach on his. So now I have a section of St. Augustine alongside his - but there is about 10,000 sq feet of sunny area next to it. I'd like to put seed down and I've come to the conclusion to Zoysia (Empire/Compadre mix) is what I want.

The Del Mar is slow growing and the Zoysia is medium fast growing, but the border is shady/sunny. So - will the Zoysia eventually creep into the Del Mar? Vice versa? Should I put a barrier in the ground - would that help?
