Hey buddy, I just learned about eReplacementParts.com. I put in my Snapper mower model name and number and the site poped up diagrams to help me order all the parts I needed. I just got the box and plan to put them on this weekend before the mowing season. Also, had to order one part for the engine, which required me to know the Briggs & Stratton engine model number. So, went to B&S site and it had a helpful video to identify the engine model number. From B&S site I downloaded a manual and parts list for my Snapper mower B&S engine. Just went back to eReplacementParts.com and put in the part number and ordered a new muffler guard. eReplacementParts.com had everything. I'm just a homeowner like you who likes to keep my Snapper in tip top shape like you!

I tried both and I find the rear-drive very awkward and very difficult while pivoting the mower to the other direction. With front-drive, all I do is raise the front and quickly turn the mower to the other direction. My target is to quickly and efficiently mow my lawn and not tinker with the clutch at all; who wants that? With rear-drive, I have to disengage every time when I need to turn directions ... making my expensive mower a push mower during the attempt and tremendously slowing my momentum ... and of course, I have to engage again to move forward. If you have the mower on fast while doing this, you will find yourself fighting the mower every time you want to start on the new direction. You are not controlling the mower, its controlling you. Think about it, being able to raise the front wheels will allow you to turn the mower on 2 wheels; that is turning on a dime. If you have 4 wheels, you are going to make several small movements to realign your mower to the new direction while stroking your clutch on every attempt. IÂm returning my rear-drive today for a front-wheel drive.

No it is not a disc drive. There seems to be some drag on the tranny when you push or pull it when not engaged. Quite frequently the drive systems engages itself when pulling backwards for no known reason. Makes it difficult to mow with when you have to fight it taking off into obstacles.

Well, my lawn grass isn't that weird. It's medium-width blades (not quite as you'd see on a nice golf course) that when mowed with the Honda looked really even and smooth. The Snapper leaves the lawn looking a bit ragged, despite the fact that the blades are new and appear level within the mower deck. I've tried the Ninja mulching blades without a bag and the regular HiVac blades with the bag-- neither give anywhere near as nice a cut as the Honda's twin mulching blades did. But the fact that my Honda's transmission seized up after 6 years of normal use (takes about an hour to mow our lawn) ticked me off enough that I wasn't about to go buy another Honda. Fixing it would have cost almost $300 because of its hard-to-reach tranny, unlike the Snapper whose tranny is outside the mower deck and easy to access. Anyway, this is a real mystery-- guess I'll just have to live with it. As an afterthought: some people have complained online about the Snapper's B&S engine as having too slow a speed, but I'm not sure what they mean. I wonder if they think that the blade doesn't spin fast enough on a Snapper-- could that be it?
