Has anyone re-Powered a Honda HRS21 Mower
Comments (6)"Here in Toronto I can buy a new Honda clone engine for $120 I was just wondering if it is possible to mount that and as long as the self propelled works, no need to worry abought a blade brake and throttle control." Interesting about the vertical shaft clones. We have clones in Mississippi but only horizontal shaft. I was unable to check out the mounting foot print on the HRS 21 because they were sold off for scrap when prices shot up last summer. Check closely to see if the clone will fit this frame. As I said this is one unusual setup. Mike...See More25 year old Honda HRS21 problem????
Comments (0)Hi to all....I changed the blade on my mower and mowed with no problem last week. This week the mower started and never really reved up & was vibrating more than usual....I started mowing and it cut off...All of a sudden very difficult to pull the rope to start? Cannot get it started...I had not messed with the blade for years I'm embarrased to say. I did put it on the correct way. What are some things I can check to diagnose? I realize it might be dead...And how can I verify that also...Thanks!...See MoreHRX217 Blade Sharpening Assistance
Comments (1)Take the blades off and look at them. You have two blades of different design, but the one thing they have in common with each and every other lawnmower blade ever made is the sharpened edge being angled so that the sharp edge is at the bottom, or 'grass side' of the blade. When you get through with the blades, just put back the lower one - you'll get better results....See MoreHonda HRR21 not cutting grass
Comments (36)I've had the Honda HRR for maybe 6 years, and I've struggled with the mohawk or uncut strip of grass ever since I got it. I've been told that I'm not mowing frequently enough, the blades are not sharp enough, the wheels may be out of balance, etc. Basically I'm doing something wrong, not the mower. I've taken it to 2 different shops and both say there is no issue with the mower. After reading this thread and another similar (but older) one, I realize that this is a common issue for Honda. How can it be that the mower I thought was the best in industry does such a crappy job at mowing? (rhetorical) Thanks to all of you who posted such insightful comments. Unfortunately I'm stuck with a bad mower, which I bought to replace my Husqvarna (with Honda engine) because I thought it would do a better job....See Morenevada_walrus
