Glass, glass & more glass!

Oh my, this is just a sampling of the totem glass I've been collecting since last summer. I think I'll be busy this winter...oooh, the possibilities! Can't wait to get started (as soon as my son starts pre K ~ it might give me a few hours of "mommy time!") I have so much more vases, dishes etc. in the mud room. I couldn't fit it all on the bench. LOL

Put the bottom glass in very hot water. Fill the inner glass with ice water. Wait a few minutes. The outside glass should expand from the heat and the inner glass should contract from the cold. you should be able to separate them.

Google "back painted glass" and your city and you should get some options. At least where I am (DC metro area) the prices varied wildly. All of my outlets are under cabinet, but i understand the glass folks simply cut out the outlets and polish the edges, just as the edges at the end of a counter run are polished to a smooth finish. My glass has little tiny notches cut out for the wire for the under cab plugs. Best of luck.

I know this took you a long, long time to start and finish and it took me maybe 15 minutes to look at all your pictures, but WOW! That is some of the nicest work I've ever seen! It's a stunner! I have a window that I did a few years ago. It's heavy and I couldn't figure out how to hang it. I ended up just putting it on the window sill against a window in my family room. It not only looks neat with the light coming through, but it ended up being a nice barrier from looking at the neighbor's yard/deck! Win win! Again, yours is just beautiful!! I love it.

And rearrangement never ends! I have been digging things into the ground for the winter and thinking that's not really where I want it. I guess I'll be busy rearranging next season again! I really like Stained Glass. I've been struggling with a very small Cathedral Windows so I can't comment on it. Saw Etched Glass in a nursery this year and picked it up. But since my garden is full, I decided to put it back. Sometimes what I find with newer hosta (that not many people have) is that they may not grow well, or they may not look good all season etc. So I try to refrain from buying new until others have it and can tell me more about it. Anyways, it slows down the amount of new hostas I get to have---which is actually a good thing for me---until I find more hosta real estate!

Arg!!!!!! What beautiful blue glass! I see several things I like. The pink vase on the right and that frosted green one in the far right corner!

OOhhh my Goodness!!!!!!!! What eye candy. I can't believe all that color!!!!!! I'm on the next plane out and we are going shopping!!!!! Look at that blue one that looks like cut glass... and the pink one...red and purple... I can't look anymore I'm turning green with envy!!!! Bad bad Brenda!!!

Please show us all your wonderful creations... oh love the bench too!!!!!!!!

Oooooooh, aaaaaaaaaaaah ... it's almost like watching fireworks! Love it all! I can't wait to see what you end up doing with all of it. Tell DH he did a great job on the bench. Can't wait to see that painted too!

ohhhhh, I see two purple glass pieces!!! sigh. And love the cool shape of the red one in the middle. Lots of totem toys there to play with. Love the bench too!

I love your collection. Trying to grab the six sided red one. I'm collecting rose items for a totem for my sister for Xmas. That would look good.

Thanks everyone! I'd LOVE to go shopping with anyone willing to tag along! Wouldn't that be fun? :o) I have a whole set of the purple glasses (I think 6 of them.) And lots more of the little red cups. I'm almost afraid to use them ~ I thought they'd look nice with tea lights in them at Christmas...hmmm? Oh, and the 6 sided red one is an old AVON bottle. I think it's missing it's top, maybe it had cologne in it or something?
