Met Another Garden Junker!!!!

Yup, went to beautiful Victoria BC, an 1.5hrs away, and met Starscream!!!! Lovely Gal, had a tour of her Garden(wish I had taken my camera) She is DEF one of us! She had the cutest stuff!!! And she has gorgeous roses!!! Even her house is like a pc of garden art as it is a bright blue!!! AWESOME GAL and look at the goodies she gave me!!! 5pcs of bed rail, a chair frame, and this leaf shredder...that we both think should be turned into a lady planter!!! I just wished that I didn't have to come home to my dried out old yard...after seeing hers!!!

Wow, that leaf shredder really has some potential. Does it still work? Maybe you could doll it up (I'm seeing a long, prairie type skirt...) in a way that it could still be functional. I'd love to have one of those for my compost!

Sounds like you found "a kindred spirit"! And now you have some work to do! I've got just a few words of advice! START TAKING YOUR CAMERA WITH YOU!!! LOL

If y'all were about an hour and a half more north than I would be able to do! Southern California is a BIG place. Walnut is Orange County and that's a long drive fore me. Maybe if there is a halfway mark or central to everyone else that I can do.....Let me know more posts that you get. Love, Jules

Glad to have you. As a Volunteer Master Gardener I get to volunteer at the elementary schools and it is alot of fun. Does your school have a school garden or garden club? Some of the teachers have special plants outside their doors and will ask me to help ID or tell them what is wrong. Sometimes I get to play Tree Coroner(sorry Ma'am but your tree is dead LOL) You will get lots of good ideas here and we hope to see yours!

Mjowest, I jumped out of lurkdom and posted my "Fall decorations", really Halloween ones. Now that Halloween is past I have dismantled the witch and will put her back to my garden lady. The ghosts and pumpkins, and skeletons are all in the box now. Will have to think of some winter crafts to do inside. I am making a coverlet for my grandson by covering an old insulated blanket with new material on the top (cowboys and horses) and sheet on the bottom. I hope it turns out. (Probably should drain the pond too) Hope to catch you home next time. Your hubby was very cordial to a stranger who couldn't remember your real name. LOL I also posted on the conversations side. I thought of taking some pics of the form that I use for the garden lady and my witch, and posting them. Pat P

Well, it wasn't a 'surprise' meetings but I have met 'Dave/George', Davemidohio, 'Poppy' who use to be a regular on this forum but now is on another very popular one (let's just admit it's 'Hallson's') and 'Buff24', who use to be a regular, as well, but being a working mom of a toddler with another baby on the way is kinda time-consuming, don'cha know! I did meet another former poster, 'Valerie'--we met at our local sale--she lives in Cincinnati, as I recall! Oh, and last but certainly not least, 'HostaFreak/Phil'! He and his wife made an over-night stop in Dayton, last summer, on their way north of us--and spent the evening with us--what a nice occasion that was. The first 3 of us, have gone on field trips to nurseries and been in one another's homes, though it has been awhile since we've done that. Buff & family got to meet Phil at our house when they stopped by, too! Their little girl is the spitting image of Buff--her name is Makenna! Hope I spelled that right this time!!! She was and still is adorable!! Hosta folk are certainly the best! I highly recommend connecting if you ever can. McT and I are 'working' on a way to get together and I am hoping 'thisismelissa ' will be coming through this summer, too! I always welcome the opportunity to meet 'the folks' who I've come to look forward to coming to this forum and seeing what you are doing and saying each day!

Tasy, I asked about it and she said that it doesn't work anymore, so too bad, but I am planning on a nice long skirt and maybe a little house on the prairie hat?!!! I could go on about all the cute stuff she had in her yard but without pics....but she did have a snail...and it had it's own garden, with an arbor, and it was going to check on it's little mailbox...SNAIL MAIL!!!!lol! Too Cute!!!

I can see the potential in the leaf shredder well as the bed rails and chair frame. It would be cool if you could train a vine plant to grow on the chair frame to look like the "seat" of the chair. That's be a real conversation piece.

Years ago, when they first came out, I thought cell phones with cameras were silly. Who needs a camera on their cell phone? I learned after getting the one I have now that I DO! lol! It is great for just such occasions where you forget your regular camera but need to take some pictures. My phone takes some amazing pictures. So don't forget to whip out that phone when the photo opportunity arises!
