Just fertilized lawn and have a quick question?

I just fertilized my lawn with turf builder plus 2 weed control and wanted to know when I can let my pets roam around the yard again. They are driving me crazy!

Keep them out for at least a week and 1 rainfall. I would wait longer if I were you (like 2 weeks will be best)

new guy, next time just use Turf Builder without weed control. Then if you need weed control, you can use something like liquid Weed-B-Gone about 2 weeks after using the fertilizer. By spot spraying only the weeds, you don't have as much herbicide around the yard. One of the issues with the broadcast herbicide and pets is the pets get it on their feet and bring it into the house. Since there are no soil microbes in the house to decompose the herbicide, it builds up on the carpet and floor. At least that describes the issue. Whether it is a cause for concern depends on which research you read.

Are you watering no more than once per week and mowing at the mower's highest setting? That usually is plenty to keep weeds out of the yard.

If it was me, I would not fertilize now if you did a full application of actual nitrogen when you seeded (1lb per 1,000 sq. ft.). However, it may give the grass an extra boost, and it probably wouldn't hurt anything if you wanted to. Half rate would make sense, though. Also, I think a lot on here would discourage the use of winter fertilizer. A soil test would tell you for sure what you need, but if you don't have that, a "regular" fertilizer, would probably be just great. What are the numbers on the winterizer bag?

That's what I said, and I paid anyway. LOL. Crazy, isn't it? That's the trouble with living in a smaller town and I don't think there is much in the way of pond stuff, except to drive about an hour away. It is getting full sun, all day. With the limited water plants that's available here, that's why I have been trying to find out more information on the use of 'everyday' gardening plants to use. I'd thought about building a small island to float with the roots in the water, plants on top. But, I don't know which plants would do well, and use up the bad stuff in the water to keep it clear. I'd thought of hostas but they like shade and some of the full sun plants don't seem to be suited for a waterscape. Any suggestions?

Your survey is screwed up. Do you have any impairments that would restrict you from maintaining a clean yard? - There should be a "None"/"No" option. I can see the presentation now: "100% of our respondents said they have some sort of impairment preventing them from maintaining a clean yard!" Do you use any tools to weed your yard? Should not be required unless you responded "Yes" to the "Do you weed your lawn question" If you could improve one lawn care tool, what would it be? "None" or "Other" option required, or make it an optional question How would you improve one of these tools to make it better and/or more efficient?
