Oh, those are so cute! I bet your froggies just love you! I really like the names on them, too! That was a cute idea! It looks like you used clay pots that had been broken, is that what they are? Great idea!

Really ecstatic about those Toad abodes bet they were fun to make! I find lizard eggs in mine quite often.

If I was a toad, I'd move right in! They look great. Tell your grandson he did an awesome job. I like the idea of gluing letters to the back of clear marbles. What a great idea!

What fun that must have been making these with your grandson. Did you glue the lettering on the front or back of the clear marbles? I recently saw where a gal who makes jewelry takes very large FLAT clear marbles, and glues a picture to the backside of it. By gluing on the back, the picture gets MAGNIFIED when looked at from the front. She does "tiny art" pendants this way. Or makes fridge magnets
using pretty pictures. I bought some of these marbles at Michaels to play with, tho not for jewelry. Now you've given me an idea to try with lettering as well as pictures.

I could use some. I've found toadies hiding beneath flower pots and mulch bags, just about everything I put outside.
I once moved a terra cotta pot & saucer and found 2 big fat lumpy guys under it. They're like cats in that they can fit into slim spaces.

Thanks ya'll.....yes,they're terra cotta pots that were broken. Some I had to make bigger holes for. We used stained glass pieces, I had lots of bright yellow, and his has what's left of a broken vase, and mine is what's left of a Japanese pink peony plate and pink stained glass. I had to try out different font sizes,because the flat marbles DO magnetize the letters,which is good! It looks great. I used Mod Podge to glue the letters to the marbles, I'm sure it will hold up. I cut roses from a catalog a few years back and mod podged them to marbles for some mosaiced birdhouses,and they're not faded, still look great. Used some black acrylic paint,like Apple Barrel, in white grout to make gray grout, and used silicone to glue them all on the clay pots.Sprayed with clear sealer. I set a blue plate out to keep filled with water because I read somewhere that the toads need to sit in water for a while every day.

Those are sooo fun!!!!

I love the idea of toad houses but tell me this. What is to keep a snake from getting in there and attacking the toad? I don't want to trap the little guy in there. I've always wondered about this and have yet to buy/make a toad house for this one reason.

....well...nothing is going to keep a snake from getting a toad from anywhere. I once had a snake crawl into a wreath on my front door and eat the 4 baby birds living in it. I just made the toad houses to attract more toads. One toad will eat 10,000 insects in one summer..that's a lot of mosquitos no matter where you live. If a snake gets one toad,another will come along and replace it, that's the circle of life. One of the dogs, Uncle Pedro, keeps drinking the water from the plate I set out for the toads,and we have to keep filling it back up...got a break from that for now with all the horrible storms and heavy rains.
