Question on using old baby crib as garden trellis

I found an old baby crib on Freecycle last weekend.

It's dark brown and has the turned spindles.

I separated the sides and removed the hardware. I plan to use the pieces as trellises but I'm reluctant to just push the wood into the soil. Won't it rot? I also want them to be sturdy and not flop over.

I know others here have used these types of old baby frames in the garden- how did you secure them and prevent rot?

Thanks for any ideas.
