Thank-you craftylady-2006. I do mostly lurk. I must say, I always appreciate your posts. It's easy to see that you are a warm and gracious lady. I'm sure your kind words of encouragement are valued by all that come here.

Thanks for the welcome, craftylady...I signed up a couple months ago; don't often post, but I love seeing the stuff other folks have come up with. The transformations are awesome! Been a "junker" most of my life (Thanks, Mom :-) but now I don't feel as odd about it as I used to..it helps to know that there are lots of other folks out there who can't pass a good curbside stack without at least slowing down the truck!!

Thanks for the welcome Craft-lady. I have been enjoying this forum since finding it about a month ago, I started out on the Texas Gardening site, now I seldom go there, I just come straight here!

Not really "junk" but created stepping stones with my visiting grandkids this week.

Have lots of new ideas for ways to "spiff it up" around here.

Look forward to sharing some of my creations if I can figure out how to post pictures.

Sal you are so sweet letting all of us newbies to the site know we are appreciated! I myself am a "need to see it" type of person, so I'm more than happy sharing my pictures after viewing so many inspiring ones here! Everyone here is so friendly and inspiring unlike other sites :) I do have more to share, unfortunately my daughter took my camera to the family's 4th of July cookout while I'm here at home trying to deal with my teen....Happy 4th to all and welcome to all of the other newbies (like myself) keep on sharing please :)

Thanks for the welcome!! I have made some things BUT can't find the cord that connects my camera to my computer!!!! I have mosaiced a pig planter, made tipsy pots that I demand people come and look at(I'm very proud.) I've got other big projects started...just can't get pictures to the computer,yet. I think I'm just going to buy a new camera.

Our new project is an old wire corn crib that we moved to our property and are planning on making it into a gazebo.

Well, I guess this is a good time to come out of the woodwork too! Been lurking here for a while and I just love seeing everyone's creativity. I'm working on a new rock/hosta garden and was having trouble finding a bench that I liked. I came here and saw all of the great benches made from headboards and went out and found myself one. Now I just have to talk my son into helping me put it together so I can show it off!
Sumtique - I just happened to see a local show here yesterday about a woman who grows flowers on her farm and then lets people cut a bucketful for $10. They had made a gazebo out of an old wire corn crib and it was really neat. They moved it from another farm and sat it on an area they made of pavers. It's a great idea. Hope your turns out as well!

This is almost like a "family reunion" as we all find each other and share things we've done. I love it.

I am not new to GW, but new to this forum. Someone in Cottage (IIRC) directed here to see the peony chair, and just like that I was hooked!
I love to see what other people do, but I don't feel like I have anything worthy to share (yet!)

I have been a member of GW for just a little over a year maybe, but only discovered the junk yard over the past couple of months. I have been so inspired by all the creativity here that I just couldn't help myself. DH likes it in some ways, but not in others (too much MORE junk!)LOL I haven't gotten too many things completed, but do plan on at least getting that gazing BB done before the fall leaves come down. I'd just like to say THANKS! for being an inspiration to US!

My neighbor wants to make a gazebo out of an old corn crib too. DH supplied them with the black iron pipe, but she doesn't have the top yet. I think they'd look cool, as I've never actually seen one!

I am a lurker/new member and I love this forum and site. But it's corrupting me into looking at EVERYTHING with a new eye and it's caused one disagreement with my husband over whether or not an old coffee pot from 1881 could go out in the yard. It's plate, not silver, so I say it's not worth a place inside. I'm working on him and on collecting stuff for a garden totem.

Hi everyone. I'm not brand new, but haven't posted a whole lot in GJ. I started at GW 2.5 yrs ago when I was researching winter sowing. I check GJ daily now and really enjoy the nice group I've met here.

OK it has finally happened, after years of lurking and using some of your ideas in my various gardens in different homes and countries, the family like atmosphere here has made me come out of the garden shed and stop recreating old into new long enough to say "Thank you all for sparking my imagination in so many different ways. My gardens and those who have enjoyed them over the years also thank you"

My husband calls me a "garden junky" and that's alright with me!

Thanks! I have made 2 tipsy pots...and I got the idea from here. DH pretty much thought I was nuts, when I was trying to tell him about them. The politicians left rebar in the ground, when they took their signs down. I "stole" it.

I love it here and think everyone is so creative. Now...if I can just get my bowling ball away from my pitbull, I will put some pretty stuff on it. :)

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie and just love lurking around in the Garden Junk forum! I'm enjoying searching out some ideas for some projects I would love to try. I have always been a junk collector and love gardening so this is my cup of tea! Have to admit the totem thing didn't appeal to me but in less than 10 minutes of looking at them I'm itching to go to the thrift stores and by me some glass! It's going to be a real challenge for me as I collect vintage glass and display it in my home... I'm gonna have some work cut out for me to cross the line and place some in my garden. :-)

newb here as i stated in an earlier post i usually frequent the stained glass and mosaic forum but decided to venture over and have to say you guys have some of the best gardens ive ever seen and so many inventive ideas

Good Morning to All. I love this site--yes, the landscaping, fish pond and flower gardens are all done on our Iowa farm with "don't throw that junk away" ideas.

We have a project to make a gazebo out of an old wire corn crib. I see there was some postings in 2007 about this.

Can I ask shpnquen (the neighbor was making one), iowa flower nut (saw one at a flower show) and sumtique (making one of their own) to share some ideas and pictures with me?

Also, what's with the totem pole projects? How do I get to the pictures? Yes, I'm new on this site as of this week!

nbacres, I was just reading an article in a magazine at the orthodontist office yesterday while waiting for DS. I think the magazine was Cottage Gardens or something? A lady had turned a wire corn crib into a gazebo of sorts. She just put some wicker furniture in there and planted clematis and runner beans around it. I don't think it had a top on it but it was beautiful and shady once the vines covered it. You might check out that magazine if you get a chance and haven't already!

I too am a noob. I love this place. I lurk in the hydroponics section as well. And YES, my hydro system is all recycled parts! I can't wait to jazz it up a bit. Only bad thing is I looked like a total idiot this morning pilfering through peoples recycle bins. I try to disguise my motive by walking the dog. Poor old dog was forced to walk with me at 6am. Hah. I just love it, love it, love it here!!!

WOW ! what a great link to the inspiration album. Didn't see anything about corn crib gazebos but I'm thinking I just uncovered a whole new activity level of projects with our farm "stuff" stashed away. Since we don't have a dog to take to town as an alibi to go dumpster diving, guess I'm going to have to settle for farm-shed diving!

I can't wait for weekends in Iowa with no rain or snow or wind and lots of sunshine so I can get started with new projects.

just another ole lurker finally speaking up, although you guys are so darn friendly I do not feel like a newbie, just the quiet in the corner. I have not conquered how to post pictures, plus I just moved so all my beds are new . I love the creative minds out comes one idea and you each just keep adding input, awesome the things you guys do.
