mower for zoysia
Comments (4)Need a reel mower for zoysia? Nonsense. Like orangedotfever, I also used a rotary mower (Lawn Boy) on my zoysia lawn for many years, as did my neighbor on his. One person even used an electric rotary with no trouble. Just make sure you get a mower with an engine that's not a complete weakling....See MoreMascot, Brill 38, Fiskar's Reel Mower Review
Comments (59)I just registered here after reading all the posts regarding the fiskars and bermuda at the lower settings. I purchased a fiskars a couple of weeks ago and noticed the chopping look and the grabbing of the grass at the lower settings too. I laid my bermuda 419 in my front yard a couple of months ago and have been trying to keep it at the lowest setting like it was from the sod farm. When the mower does not jam up and stop dead it its tracks I get a rippled look like someone else mentioned earlier. I was going to post a couple of pics but can't seem to figure out how. I have sent an email with pics to fiskars explaining the difficulty with my bermuda and will post a follow up if they can offer a fix. I don't want to have to send it back since I ordered it online and I think it is a nice mower, but if it won't glide through my bermuda, what's the use? Someone mentioned that it needs a roller on the front instead of the two little wheels, what do you mean by that? I also have scott's classic 20" but didn't notice a roller on the front. I have read this explanation somewhere else too, but would like some clarification. Thanks, so far I love the advice given here....See MoreNeed a lawn mower
Comments (4)I have had many lawn mowers over the years - the large wheeled ones I did not like it seemed like the wheels always got loose - the metal rod holding them got bent or something. I don't like self-propelled because the self-propelled part will eventually give out and then you will have a lawn mower that weighs a ton and trying to push it on your own. I have trouble with gasoline mowers, nothing more frustrating than getting all worked up to mow and then not being able to get it started. But part of that is probably me, maybe my arms aren't long enough to pull it out all the way. I had a couple of lawn mowers that developed fuel line leaks which can be quite dangerous/disastrous. So I finally gave up and bought a Neuton Electric Mower and I loved it - had it for quite a while - it recently gave up the ghost though and if I buy a new one that would be what I would get. No worry about gasoline, no cost of gasoline, they are light and easy to push, they are much quieter and much safer I think. it lasted far longer than any gasoline mower I had although I never bought one of the very fancy more expensive models. I didn't buy bottom of the line either. Maybe a Lawn Boy like my dad had would have been better if you can afford the price if you want a gasoline mower. I really liked and am sold on electric, no nasty fumes and when everyone else was prohibited from mowing because of ozone alert, I could still go out and mow!...See MoreMini lawn mower?
Comments (8)Thanks everyone, The string trimmer seems to likely do too much damage, since the spaces are so small. I suppose I can look for a cordless long-handled trimmer, but I would prefer something that wasn't so hard on my hands and fingers. (arthritis). Seems like if they can make something small like the mantis tiller, they could make a really small lawnmower. But there's probably too much demand for them. Maybe I could take the cover off a small fan with metal blades and try that. haha thanks for your help....See Morebigal_mo
