If you get a bunch of small pots, you can pot up your runners NOW. You should have plenty of time yet in Oregon. They grow roots very quickly. Don't cut them from the mother plant until they get established. Keep them well watered. You can then replant them wherever you want. I moved an entire bed last year using just runners like these.

Hello! I use santolina bushes as insect repellants in my strawberry bed. My raised bed is about ten feet long by three feet wide. I interspersed three santolina bushes. Haven't had problems with insects in that bed since then.

s, It all depends on your soil wetting pattern. Try 18" emitter spacing with two t-tape lines. If the wetting pattern is not reaching the whole plot add more lines and stagger the 18" emitter spacing. Trial and error is a good thing. aloha

I've heard all the horror stories about running bamboo that took over entire neighborhoods and ate small pets and children. I normally only growth things I can eat. I've never cared for bamboo shoots, so I never noticed what the nursery charges for pots of bamboo. I guess I assumed the nurseries put one pot of it in the back end of the shadehouse with some empty containers of potting mix and prayed that the next morning it wouldn't have spread to the parking lot and begun to sprout up through the asphalt. (grin) Seriously, I've always loved the look of bamboo, but never grown it myself to know much about it. Thanks, Greg
