trees resistent to brown rot

i live in green country of oklahoma and my peach and necterine trees lost their fruit due to brown rot. i can't see taking them out but if they ever die i would, but i don't know if there are better varieties. i don't even know how to prevent brown rot except to keep fruit trimmed, branches trimmed, and mulch under the tree and spray. but i know one woman that kept spraying with fungicide and they all died. i hate uses this poison. what to do? thanks
