OFM can lay eggs through the stocking material; it does cut back the damage to about half what it would have been. The combination of Surround and stockings may work better, I haven't tried that one. Cotton does hold dew but if the tree is in a sunny location its only adding an hour or so to the morning drying time.. tolerable on all but the most rot-susceptible varieties. I have used footies two years and cotton bags for 4-5 years. Now I just use the cotton bags on early peaches which the squirrel go after; if the bag is tied to the tree limb you have just squirrel-proofed your peach.
