Comments (11)Tornado...interesting story...sounds as the redbud is a very hardy specimen. Lol Gardengal...on a list of toxic dog plants under Maple...it said any Acer. So I assumed the Ryusen was part of that grouping. I would love to hear it wasn't the case. I have a dog that is MRD1 sensitive to medications...so I worry plants may effect her more sensitively as well. Her mother is positive for the gene. As is her father...so she more or less falls into that classification as well. MDR1 FAQs. Australian Shepherds, along with several other mostly collie-type breeds, can carry a genetic mutation that makes them sensitive to certain drugs. I had a friends dog...die after eating rasins. I know the nursery says grapes are toxic to dogs. I have a leaf muncher...so I try to be cautious...I'll look into the Ryusen more...just assumed since it was an Acer...it fell into that grouping....See MoreNon-Toxic Plants for Pets
Comments (3)I took up cactus as house plants about 15 years ago just because the cats wouldn't touch them. If you eat enough aloe, it will cleanse your bowels ;^), but they are such tough plants that we've never had a cat try to chew on them. There are some poisonous succulents, but again they are so tough that the cats don't touch them. Most of my plants are outside at this point though. It is a good list for pet owners though....See MoreWhat is this? Toxic to pet?
Comments (3)Many, many, many tropical plants are toxic to some degree. Mostly, my cats have left plants alone. Occasionally, they will munch on something that looks grassy, like palm fronds. They may spit up but have alway been fine. I sometimes I wonder whether they are are already having some stomach issue and trying to self medicate. But honestly, I have a zillion plants and all my cats have only ever died of advanced age. I would suggest that the owner of the plant grow some animal friendly grasses, you can buy them from most pet shops. That way, if the kitty or doggy were to experiment with botanicals, they have something that is green but completely harmless. P.S.1 , Yes, it's a self-heading Philodendron of some sort..., there are hundreds. P.S.2, Great planter and stand, btw....See Moregaryfla_gw
