How to rehab my strawberry bed

kim0201

I have a 4x6'raised bed of strawberries (both ever & June bearing) which I have totally neglected. For the first time, I had some berries this yr - altho' the plants were put in about 2 or 3 yrs ago. The plants are now growing densely in this bed & I'd like to clean it up.

Is there a way to tell how old a plant is? I don't want to start over with all new plants if I can salvage these. They appear to be healthy plants and are still growing well/very green.

There are lots of 'daughters' hanging over the edge of the bed but I would assume it might be too late to get these started & well established for next yr.

Thank you for giving this newbie some wise words. :)
