Bug boring through blueberries?

Hi - I have a pile of shavings by the base (or trunk) of one of my blueberries. The shavings are about an inch long, light brown as if they came from blueberry wood, and about the diameter of a hypodermic needle or so. I didn't know what to make of it so I left it alone. Today I noticed one branch coming from the base was clean sheared off and there is a hollow hole running up the sheared-off blueberry branch. The hole is approx. 1/8 inch in diameter. Another blueberry in the vicinity also had this symptom and died recently. This guy doesn't look so great either although it could be the PH. Anyway, it looks like something is depositing shavings there - does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it? I try to use mild treatment like 0.02 pyrethrins most of the time but my blueberries are my favorite and I will use other treatments. Thanks!
