I glued the bottom edges of my pots so they wouldn't fall.

You need pound the rebar about a foot into the ground then stack the pots on the rebar first. Then fill with dirt. Then plants.

Not sure if this will help, but... When I made mine I filled them all with soil and got them into position before I put the plants in. In the 2 that I have made, so far, all of the pots rest on the soil of the pot below. I think we would all like to see pics of your finished project!! :)

i posted new pictures to my garden album.i made 2 tipsy planters yesterday using stuff i had.i used 2 rods like u use to hold tomaoto cages.one did not seem strong enough to hold the clay pots.i didn't glue ---just put it together. we will see how long they last.i then filled them with soil and plants.

Jen,You need to be sure the pots are not the same size at both ends the bottom needs to be smaller then the top. Do you know what I mean? I had that problem when I tried to use the shorter wider pots. when you put them on the rebar you slide them down to the next pot tilted so it sits on the edge of the previous pots rim. I planted my flowers after I got it all set up too. Someone that is making one of these really needs to take pictures of the different stages so it can be used as an example. If I make another one I will do that.(-: But not sure I will make anymore I have five now....LOL I love them they are one of the easiest things I have done. Hopefully you can get yours to tilt Jen. I also put my post in ground first...Then largest pot. Filled it with soil..Then added the rest of the pots, each with the soil in them.

Planted my flowers and watered...It's looking pretty good

I'm bummed.
I got my tipsy pots done on Memorial day & now my computer
that holds my card reader is dead & I can't post my pictures :(
My Lowes only had 4ft & 10ft rebar so I had to go with the 4 (since I was driving a sedan....I used 3 pots(10in?) & it's as cute as can be.
Good deed rewarded today....went over to hug my neighbor as her DH died 2 yrs ago today & she was thinning up a bunch of her blue star creeper & she gave it to me.

It doesn't matter much in what order you do it. Just make sure that the pots are tilted in the direction that you want them to gofrom the top of the rebar when you put them on. Make sure the pots are resting on the edge of the lower pot instead of the earth in the lower pot, and it will be very steady.

i used some rocks of various sizes to set my pots at the prefered angle.
I put a set at the city building where people pay thier water bills and the girls there say they get a lot of comments on them.
I have done three sets from different sized pots so far.

Hi Y'all, I just discovered this tipsy-pot thread and I love the tipsys. Thanks for the photo. Is there some way to get back to an earlier post that tells how to make one from scratch? (Tipsy-pots for Dummies?) Do you just stick a straight length of rebar in the ground? The rebar isn't bent into angles that will hold the pots? This post really makes me sound stooopid, but I really wanna learn how to make a tipsy.

I have moved mine from here and removed the wire thing from the top and I am gona move again this week. I put the green vinyl covered 'stake' in first. Then I put the bottom pot on angeled with a rock and filled with dirt. I put the dirt in the next pot and put over the stake, holding one side higher than the other. I did that to the top putting the pots at different angles. Then I put in plants. It is ok to take some dirt out of add dirt as you go. I did have to put a rock to hold one of them in place up under the pot, where no flowers will really go, kinda between the stake and the rim of the pot. Another one I had to put a rock in the pot along with the plants to keep the dirt in until it 'firmed' up.
