my first plate flower

I finally made a plate flower(although it really isnt a plate). Here it is with 2 little glass mushrooms. I have a lot of spindles from a crib I got at the curb, so I thought I would use one for the stem.I now have about 5 shelves of glass I keep buying, but I found a place where I can get a very large box for about $7. I dont think any project has cost more than $1.

How adorable! Great job! I like the way you painted your stem to match, that was a clever idea! Especially like the way the spindles show through the glass on your mushroom, it really adds to it. blessings-sherri

Hi Dort~ All of my plate flowers I drilled in the center and put together except for one that I used the Silicone II on. If you search plate flowers on this forum you should find lots of directions and pictures. The latest method is to glue the plate flower to a bend spoon and then put the spoon handle in the pvc or pipe. Let me know if that isn't clear and I'll see if I can find the thread with pictures.

They are really pretty! I especially like that center one. Love the center of the flower. I will have to remember to watch for pretty but inexpensive broaches and pendants at the one thrift store I go to. Thanks for the inspiration!

ahhhh, purple, definitely love it. I also love how you've been painting your spindles. Heck, they look good all by themselves! Now I'll be on the hunt for spindles, LOL.

Very Nice! Love the colors, must be the gypsy in me. :) I like the look of plain clear mushrooms so I put two out today. Thanx for sharing.

I had gotten 2 or 3 how did I attatch questions. I was browsing around the plumbing department in Home Depot and tried this. I just glued a plumbing elbow to the back of the plate and slid it right on the spindle. This way I can bring it in to wash in the winter too.(Only .63)
