How do I take care of this Coleus Plant?

Pardon me I am very new to gardening. Here is a picture of a Coleus Plant I bought last week. This is ecaxtly how it looked when i bought it. But now, the pink shade of the leaves have started to fade to white. How do I solve this issue? How do i take proper care of it?

Coleus tend to change color according to the amount of sun they receive, I recommend putting it into the brightest window you have unless this window gets burning hot sun.....

In your climate I would plant it outdoors in the ground if you can. Coleus can grow into large bushes in the tropics.

I know that Crinums can be grown as house plants - like Amaryllis/Hippeastrum. If you can plant them up in 9L/2gall. buckets and give them care they will probably come through the shift, though it might take them a year or so to settle in again. If you're talking about the Irises with rhizomes (Bearded), suggest you check on that forum to see what other Iris fans have done in similar circumstances. Taking young growth with an active root system and trimming back to a fan would certainly reduce the impact. I think I would choose a fairly shallow container if your Irises need a good baking to do well the following year. The Pacific Coast and Louisiana irises would need different care again. If you're moving something like I gracilipes, though, an azalea pot might be best, with a good autumn treat of leaf mould over the root system. Those particular Irises do NOT appreciate lots of sun! Do ask the folk over at the Iris forum and put your mind at peace on this aspect.

A larger pot would be a good idea. They're probably very root-bound, so try to gently tease out the outer roots before repotting. Basil will grow well in a window box and needs pretty good humidity and plenty of sun. Fluorescent lights won't help much for plants that are beyond the seedling (up to 6-8" / 15-20 cm) stage. Cooler night than day temps will help keep it from getting leggy. If your place is really dark, you might want to just harvest the basil, get some low-light plants, and maybe buy some basil oil for potpourri.

I wouldn't cut back anything on plants that size. Definitely amend the hole, but mix the compost etc with some native soil. Yes, to watering. I water in the soil half-way through planting and again at the end and make a trough at the root line to help corral the water, then mound some compost over the canes. Depending on sun exposure, I would shade them with something such as lawn chairs or an umbrella at least until you start to see new growth.they may look worse at first, but soon little leaves will appear and you can fertilize with something gentle and organic. Many people recommend fish emulsion, but I've never used it. I don't see why you won't get blooms this Fall. Good Luck! P.S. I'm a newbie also, but have had good luck planting and transplanting throughout the summer.

Thanks guys. We dont really have any space for outdoor gardening in the capital. =(

Hi
Really tough to give advice for your climate but since you're growing as a "Houseplant" Coleus is VERY hardy and adaptable only thing they will not tolerate is cold and drying out . I'd keep it in shade until it starts to grow and then decide how you want to maintain it. IN tropical climes
some varieties will become trees but very easily pruned into whatever . Be sure to keep it warm and well watered
The prunings will also become new plants very easily just stick in water or a bit of soil with or without hormone
In a week or so you have a new plant lol
I use them extensively outdoors because they come in a gazillion colors and forms and you only have to buy one plant lol Excellent choice for a new addict ?? lol gary

It looks like Perilla 'Magilla.' Botanists aren't sure if it's a Coleus or not. (Like Coleus, a hearty plant, not hardy. Can't survive frost.)

If you are growing inside, turn your plant often so it stays well-rounded.
