After seeing the post "Using Blue Bottles-Any Pictures?" I am going to look around my house for small bottles. I have to be honest I never liked the bottle trees it always looked like someone might have a drinking problem and started throwing the bottles out the front door and they happened to land in the trees. Hope I did not offend anyone. Just my opinion. But those little bottles on a wire pic was really cute.

Karen, some really good finds! You know, I got a cobalt kick (still am) and started my collection. Well, about a month ago I was at Salvation Army and found this pole with an eyehook at the top and posts that are slanted up and pole. I hung it from a hook on my patio cover and placed some of the smaller bottles on it. IT gets the east facing sun and I can see it from my kitchen window...I'll have to go and take a photo. Teh big bottles I have do not fit on it. We'll see how it fares since it is made of wood. Love, Jules

Well it's finally finished. Dh is an ale drinker, but he discovered Bud's new platinum brew in blue bottles isn't bad, so he contributed quite a few. Sandi, I bought a couple Ty Nant bottles of water. The labels on the Saratoga Springs were engraved on the bottle. I wanted removable labels. Thanks again to everyone for the help!

Cobalt glass is a deep blue colored glass prepared by adding cobalt compounds to the molten glass. It is appreciated for its attractive color. It is also used as an optical filter in flame tests to filter out the yellow flame caused by the contamination of sodium, and expand the ability to see violet and blue hues. Under fluorescent light, cobalt glass has twice the effect. Some people collect objects made from cobalt glass, amassing large collections. One popular example of cobalt glass is Bristol blue glass, as in the distinctive blue bottles of Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry. Cobalt glass changes the color of hydrochloric acid in a mixture of multi-colored cations.
