I saw those hanging planters at DG yesterday! Debated about getting them, but didn't...hmmmm. Now the whole family AND the doggies can all sit on the front porch at once & enjoy the fruits of your labor. Looks so inviting & ohhh the stuff you can decorate it with!

Your new porch is outstanding. It says "come right up and sit a spell". Your family really did a lovely job and you will enjoy it for years and years I'm sure.

It's amazing how the larger porch just looks like "yep, that's the way it was supposed to be all along!" Do you know any history, whether the house originally had a larger porch than when you bought it? It is perfect.

Recently went through the porch re-build on my Victorian home, so I understand what a job the project is. Congratulations!

just my opinion. those posts might look old fashioned but so would columns. which i think would look nicer. have you thought about adding lattice trim to the bottom of the porch?

Jenn- the house orginally had the small porch but it was a 2 sory that you could come out of the upstairs,that center window was a door.The family before us still live in the area,they got it in the 40s.We have meet the elderly grandchildren of the family before them.These ladies parents built a newer old house up the road.There are 3 OLD graves on the farm also.I think they belongs to there grandparents.

dustyknees we did the wood look because we may actually use cedar siding when that time comes.My husband would love a log cabin but he's stuck here for right now.I'm thinking about doing a rock foundation this summer myself.If I do I'll post pics for everyone.We plan on adding to the back of the house before we do any siding.We only have 1 bath !!!!

A new house went up down the road and they uaed whole pine trees (logs)as pillars . Looks wonderfully rustic. I am with your Darling Id prefer a log cabin but the Florida termites would make short work of it!!

I've always loved big porches! I had to settle for a deck in the back of my house! My dream house was a log cabin too!! A rock foundation would be perfect!! Love the rooster too!! Janet

Wow...what a transformation. It went from a nice enough house to a home with warmth and character. Kind of reminds me of a beach house or something.

We have a wrap-around porch, and I appreciate the time and effort that went into building your porch. I posted earlier but had to come back and savor the beauty and restfulness of a beautiful porch. I too was going to say something about Andy Griffith. We spend hours as a family on our porch... One of my favorite shows of ALL time is THE WALTONS. Your house reminds me of the Waltons homestead! Anywho, your home is to die for! Love the yellow chairs with the blue trim. Like Kirk, it reminds me of the Waltons. Your fur babies are so sweet, too. Great job on the work you and your family have done!

OH MY GOODNESS that looks MUCH BETTER with the larger porch! Man you guys did an AWESOME job on it!!!! I mean that is too nice!!!! Man you all will have loads of enjoying times out there on that porch! It makes the house look much more inviting and just begs you to come up and sit awhile!!! You did a great job on the landscaping to!!!!

Wow,ya'll did a good job on that porch :) Those yellow chairs look so sunny,perfect out there. It took us 2 years to get ours this far,we're not exactly finished yet, we're putting siding up,too,and have a couple more windows to replace. I love your hanging baskets,too.
