My free, new (old) potting bench

My dad got my grandpa's old shop and there's some cabinets in there. The one piece Ive been eyeing up for awhile I don't have a place for but this other piece I thought was perfect for a work bench. Im sure my grandfather made it and my dad told me that he and one of his friends put the galvanized top on it to use it as a work bench. So not only is it an awesome find that fits perfectly in my shed but it's got some nostalgia to it too.

As you can see it didn't take me long to get junk on it lol. Now if my potting shed had a/c, I'd be out there all summer long making stuff.

Nostaliga makes the BEST kind of Garden Junk. What a wonderful old piece to have from your Grandfather. I envy those kind of memories you will have each time you look at it. Unfortunately I have nothing from my granddads'... except whats in my head and heart.

Potting Bench in my Porch

Here's an update. Potting bench is working great. A bit more cleanup was completed to fit its multi-purpose. Still a couple of items to clear out. Garden tools hang ready. I drag hose in from deck when I need water for potting. The frig made the trip to the porch and is stocked (adult and tamer beverages). Opposite end of room for the non-gardening members of the household. Porch is going to be garden themed and painted a sage green and floors tiled. Not a bad tradeoff for an out of the elements potting shed. Next week my cookers will get the curtain treatment to keep harmony and stay out of site. It's really nice. We have a deck over a driveway, and mine is under the deck in the shade. It is concrete blocks, 2 blocks high with a solid oak door for a shelf, then 3 blocks stacked and another door for the top. Then he cut a hole to fit a sink. I love pew benches and you got a nice one! Great job on the find and the work you put in. Can you please share, what is "waterlox"? Is it some kind of paste for wood? We have a pew bench too. We picked it up while living in NC and it was way too long. The guy offered to cut it down for us and we let him. We have carted it to every home we have lived in. I love the character of the wood as well as knowing it holds a story from the people that used to sit in it.

Grandpa did great! It even looks like the countertop extends out so you could sit while you work. I can understand why you would want A/C in the shed! I'm sure your grandpa will be smiling down at you hard at work on your garden junk creations.
