Watering Can Water Feature

Hi Everyone!!! I posted this several years ago but have received several recent e-mails asking about this water feature. Sooooo....here it is again. I used an old watering can to make this....recently added the antique, glass floats... ENJOY!!! Hope this helps those who e-mailed me. Bear Hugs! Kirk

Kirk...I've always liked this one..my barrell pond is still going, too! But I wanted to comment on your glass balls in the ground...I think before you said those were the pot "waterers" that are sold...well, this year by our pond, I marked where I planted a big elephant ear with one of those "waterers!" (just pushed the long part in the ground) Now I know where the E.Ear is located until it finally pops out of the ground! TFS your pics again! Jeanne S.

Love your water feature. I picked up a watering can with the recirculating motor in it at a GS about 6 months ago and was so excited because I could tell it was never used and I got the whole set-up for $0.50. This past weekend I went to set it up and guess I know why she never set it up! The motor is screwed to the inside ....but there is no opening for the water to get thru the spout!!! or for that matter a place for the water to go up in the can. The can is in tact with no holes....would you be so kind as to tell me where the openings should be drilled to make mine work? Or any other instructions I might need. The motor has only one place where a hose should be attached. I will have to purchase my own hose, which is not a problem. Thanks for any help you can give me. I would really like to get it working. I love that! It looks so peaceful. I've always loved the Japanese fishing floats, and have a dozen or so in my pond as well. Some antique some new. They stay in there year round, and freeze does not hurt them. My Grandmother spent loads of time in Japan in the 50s and when she returned she had ideas. She built a Koi pond that was about 20 by 6 ft, and all us grandchildren fell in at one visit or another trying to catch one of the floats..lol I've loved them ever since, they remind me of her, and we lost her when I was 15 or so. Excellent job, very nice pond.

pondless water feature question-2 water rocks/1 pump?

I have three rocks running off one pump. I measured the rocks and then asked the pump seller to recommend the size of pump. The first one wasn't strong enough so I returned it for a stronger one. DH made a three prong T with PVC pipe to split water to all three rock columns.

You *can* make a tile panel removable...just put it on a thin substrate that can be screwed to studs, then put a tile over the screw head and remember where it is (photo is a good idea). If you tire of it or a future buyer doesn't like it, you can pack it up and take it with you or put it somewhere else. Can add as little as 1/16" to the wall and you were going to have to do an edge treatment anyway... And I love tile probably more than the next person, but I just can't see it going behind a WC. I could see it as an asymmetrical line going almost *anywhere else*. Opposite the vanity sounds like a *great* idea. I have a mosaic panel going up the wall next to my side of the countertop, actually, and one horizontal one next to DH's side...sounds weird but works, I think. We also have it in the shower and around the tub. I like your second idea. Go for it!

This is like a BLAST from memory lane... This is the first thing I ever posted on the forum... I was soooo nervous as to what people would comment. :o) Jeanne, I LOVE the garden watering globes. I don't use them as they were intended. They look sooooo cool in the garden. BEAUTIFUL colors!
