which mail order company best to order fruit trees from
Comments (17)two thumbs up for Schlabach's Nursery in New York! They are Amish so no ordering on the internet nor credit cards taken. They accept orders by mail only. They do use a phone for business purposes and are happy to answer any questions over the phone. Really great selection and pricing. I have purchased from them for my own use and for commercial purposes many times. David and his family do a fantastic job. They offer their apple trees on numerous rootstocks. Their catalog only lists the choices as "dwarf" or 'Semi-dwarf" but if you call and ask they will tell you what rootstocks the apple variety is available on. I always write on the order what rootstock I want and they honor my request. Located in Medina, NY....See MoreMail order fruit trees, nut trees, etc catalogs?

Comments (10)dirtslinger, I did a search and I'm sorry to report that my suggestion has proved also fruitless. I had met Ms Hoag at "Canada Blooms", a large garden show that's held in the Toronto area for many years and seen her on TV and heard on many radio gardening shows so that my suggestion to enquire at her nursery was genuine in my belief she was still in business. Evidently, that's not the case any more. Sad! Still, I suggest you e-mail some of the larger nurseries in your area and ask them where or who might lead you to your plant....See MoreFirst-Timer - Reputable Fruit Tree Vendors
Comments (5)This list may seem rather long, but I think you will find it useful. Many of the vendors stock a fairly limited number of varieties, so, when you make your mind up about which variety and rootstock combination you seek, you may need to shop multiple nurseries to find what you want. I would be surprised if many local nurseries knew enough about growing fruit trees to be highly useful. There is one very very knowledgeable guy, that's a regular in the Fruit and Orchards Forum, that lives in your area. I'm not sure of his screenname right now, but will try to find it. If I forget to give it to you, email me in a few days. Here are some good* mail order sources for various types of fruit plants: *Sources with poorer ratings are listed separately below.
