Oh, WOW, I would have been all over those red chairs. The black ones are kind of amazing because of their style... Not my taste, but BOY are they unique design-- Someone will definitely want them.

Very cool finds...Boy I wish I could find goodies like you all do. We can't throw things like this out..we have to call and pay to have them removed. If they are found at our curb...we get warnings and fines...stupid.. I know.

Yes, it is amazing what people will throw away. I bought worse chairs at an auction. Those white ones are great. The black ones look good too, at least too good to throw away, just not my style.

You know, you got me thinking, the only thing I think I've ever found along side the road and brought home has been chairs. I was actually going to post this on my blog for next week, because it's always chairs. Mine are usually rogue dining chairs, though, from say the 20s and 30s which need reupholstery.

I also wonder what the inside of the homes you (Linda) got your chairs from looked like... Whether if the overall decor matched, or that's why they were kicked to the curb!

Hi, Thanks for the comments. In this neighborhood, we have those big trash cans, but can put bigger stuff on the curb. I'm a late sleeper, but know that they don't pick up the big stuff till after noon, so I go look every week. The salvage people tend to come very early in the morning, but miss out on all the stuff that gets put out after dawn. We just had big trash, aka 'trick or trash' day and I didn't even go out because there's no room here right now. There were loads of trucks driving through my neighborhood hauling away tons of stuff. It's truly amazing how much people here throw away, and how good the stuff is. Linda

Linda...WOW...that sounds like a junkers heaven you live in..lol. Being here in the woods...there aren't really any "neighbors" per say and because of the animals they are really picky about what you leave out for trash. I mean..my recycles even get picked through and what "they" think isn't recycable gets taken out, put to the side..and then they dumb the container of what's left into the trucks..and leave you a note to remove the rest on your own. CAN YOU IMAGINE!!! It's insane here. Not like when we lived out in Harrisburg. We could put anything out at the curb. did alot of curb shopping when we lived out there. (sigh) Miss those days..lol.

Linda, you find the most amazing things! Never cease to be amazed! I actually "like" those gawdy red chairs. The one with the arms makes me think of a "throne". I love all the carved details, and I can just see them refinished and recovered in a luxurious fabric. Wish I had room for them--but house is too small and too full. (And you know DH would hate them!) Now those black chairs are something else! Never seen any like them before--but sure not my style! I'm sure you will find a buyer for them. Luvs

I remember the first time ever that our town had a big trash day , You could put ANYTHING out on the curb...

The kids and I were on our knee on the couch watching out the window with the lights out watching the people come in trucks , picking through everyone trash looking for their treasures.

I think we probably laughed the hardest of any...because we didn't have anything nice enough that anyone wanted it...LOLOL

Aw, the third from the left chair is missing a filial. Hope you picked it up & glued it on before trying to sell. Otherwise, can you take the tips off the others to make them match?

Are the black ones plastic? Might make good garden chairs for someone.

Now, now. It is according to whose butt sits in them, lol. I kinda actually like the black. If you take off the seat you could use them to hold up plants that flop down. If you take off the whole seat and front legs, it would be an interesting garden sculpture. Put them together and see how they look. I first looked and thought a bit of paint and you would have a big pink (for breast cancer) or yellow (for our soldiers). Yep, they will make great sculpture(s) and might sell better that way.

Hi, The white chairs are actually a cream or linen color, and a dirty one at that. The red is imitation velvet. Most of the spots can be wiped clean. The one finial is missing, and so are some of the cross bars on the legs. These chairs are imitations. The black ones are some sort of plastic. They kind of smack of one of those chinese restaurants with nice tablecloths. All of the chairs have been used a lot and may have been in restaurants. If they don't sell quickly, we'll make them into flower pot chairs and sell them that way, or put them back on the curb and make that HAHAHSnort noise that Pattico suggested, lol. We won't need binoculars, because most of the yards here aren't as big as most of yours. There is so much stuff around here. If this were an area where they're picky about what they'll take, I'd be searching for places that the stuff gets dumped, including the legal dump. If it can't be put on the curb, it has to show up somewhere, LOL Linda
