Wineberry, Rubus phoenicolasius, a type of asian raspberry. These are highly invasive, and have naturalized over many areas in the eastern US.

Yes, they are OK, but not as flavorful as red or black raspberries. I would much rather pick blackberries.

Its funny, in the second picture your hand is closer to some green round berries than it is to the wineberries.

Yes they are good. More sour/tart than a raspberry, but not as tart as say a gooseberry. Very juicy. I had some this weekend for the first time in probably 10 years.

Personally, I don't understand how something that provides tasty fruit can be considered invasive. I would feel blessed if they were in my yard.

Kniles, how would you feel if they covered every inch of your yard to a depth of 15 feet? I have seen them like that covering entire valleys just east of here, creating an impenetrable jungle in just a few years following logging. They don't climb trees, but otherwise, can be somewhat like kudzu with thorns.

Probably sick from eating too many.
