sounds like you have a good area to work in. I'd keep the lattice white to go with your shelves tho. And leave the counter the pretty wood color. I wish I had a crafting area, and would paint it a sage green. But that's not going to happen, LOL.

Excellent idea, you're really going to love working on it. I like the lattice idea also, keeps the tools up high where you can see them when you want to use them. Hope you'll post another pic when you've finished this project, it's going to be great.

Yes I will post pictures when it is done, so much to do so little time LOL if we would just get some spring weather here in the Puget Sound instead of snow, sleet and wind threatening my newly leafed maples. I think the white will be better, easier to keep clean and I can attach some things to it to take away the stark white of the room. Of course the kitchen island will be left alone, I love it the way it is. I'll get a couple of tin boxes to put on the rack at the bottom to hold potting soil and a composting bin. So much moving the past few weeks that I really don't want to take on the job of painting the room. We live in a nice Mobile community for 55 and over (no I am not near 55!) where my partner is one of the manager, but we get housing for free, so when we moved here the only thing they had available was a 2 bedroom 44 year old Crusader, top of the line........but that was 44 years ago. Finally the black mold and leaked roof was getting too much for us and this 4 bedroom became available. The point is we now have 3 extra bedrooms, one a guest bedroom, and that leaves a room for each of us to indulge our hobbies. Mine is going to be used for scrapbooking and painting in the winter to garden crafting in the summer, but I also have to share it with my 3 fur-kids, cats, so it also doubles are a sun room for them. It's going to be interesting to fix it up for this multi purpose room, but right now 2 of the rooms are storage LOL. There is a table with blankets near the windows for the cats so they are happy with it as is.

Big sigh, if I could just snap my fingers and get Oprah's decorating friend here to do the rooms for us! Meanwhile I'll have to see what junk treasures I have on hand to fix it up.

Sounds like you will be busy for a while! And keep that snow and sleet up there, will ya? I think the kitchen island will work great for a potting bench and the rest of your ideas sound great too. Can't wait to see pictures of it when you are done Great plant stand and a great price too! Oh and :p for having enough room for a craft room!

You could use one of the trellis pieces on the ceiling over the bench and one behind the bench. Paint same color? You can hang some things, like dried flowers from the top....add to the flower potting bench theme

Thanks, free is good; the steps were left by the manufacture housing people that bring in the two home halves and set them up. He had been trying for months to get them to pick it up and they have not even returned his calls. their loss, my gain. Having the extra room for crafting has been a long time wish of ours. Before my partner got transferred over to the Sound we have a huge basement with a fireplace in it and a big extra upstairs room for puzzles so we could each have a place to do our hobbies, but when we moved we went from a big house to a small 2 bedroom trailer so we would have to take turns doing our hobbies. It worked out, but it's hard to try and keep all your supplies neatly organized, so we are lucky this house became available, and I don't mind sharing it with my 3 furkids.

twomonths, Ooo, very good idea, thanks for that idea! Now I just need to find a pretty color, I love green, earth tones. Big surprise eh lol. Now I can work year around on my projects. Since I can't work anymore this makes the days go by much easier.

So far i've planted tomatoes, lettuce and herbs, and last night I started this miniature garden landscape. It's not quite finished it needs a little more color.

I love the mini landscape gardens. And that free plant stand is really a good deal. Will be pretty stained cedar, tho I like wood any way any how.

That kitchen island is wonderful & I love twomonths idea of lattice work behind and above on the ceiling...hope you have a great window in that room...you need lots of light! Have fun with this... my potting bench is still a WIP. Anyway, HAVE FUN! Jeanne S.

Great potting bench Jeanne! I love recycling things and getting more use out of them.

I went down to get the stain I had left, it was a cedar clear stain, just enough to finish the plant stand and my neighbors said a man in his golf cart just pulled up and helped himself to my cedar stain, a hosta plant and our big ladder! In broad day light; unbelievable, with 4 people watching him. they didn't know who he was but he had a cart easily identified, so I walked around the park and found him, he iddn't answer the door so the manager called him. He is suppose to return our items tomorrow. Apparently this happens quite a lot. When the grazing ball fad started people had a lot of them stolen. So what my lot didn't have a house on it anymore, doesn't mean you could go into my shed and help yourself to anything. It's quite disturbing.

Thanks purple, I love making the little landscapes, and I have some great ideas for making little decks, fences and whatnot. When I make them I'll take pictures and post them here.

That looks like an antique birdcage. Its WONDERFUL. I hope you can find a protected place for it outside.

Great idea, I'm going to have to copy it:) !!! I've had a set of kitchen cabinets sitting on my back deck, and I can't believe I didn't think of this. I always wanted one of those potting benches made from an old dresser and old pastel sink, and mosaiced counter top. I have an old beadboard oak counter, now I can see it painted white and mosaiced and turned into a potting bench! Now all I need is the sink:)

Purple, now that I realize how many sticky fingers roam around the park looking for other peoples garden items I'm going to bring it inside for now. Once I get a shed put up with a lock I'll put it in there as a decoration. Oh, and the guy tried to tell us that my partner said he could take the stuff; right......like she would give away something that is owned by her boss, or plants that I love and nurtered for years.
