Old headboard-ugh!

My neighbor died a year ago & I saw this thing sitting out. I thought it might make a neat potting bench but that thing looked heavy, just a piece of junk more than likely. It disappeared a couple of days later & I had regrets! As if I could have lugged it home. LOL! They had some cheap junk sitting out "free" about a week later. I pulled up & said, nothing I can use, should have gotten that thing you had sitting out. Guy said, you mean this 1 & he ran around the gate & I jumped out & followed him. Was so surprised it wasn't all greased up as he had repaired antique cars. They loaded it in a truck & even put it where I wanted it. So here it is. Have to make another post with the "renovated" bench as I don't have this all figured out yet! Jan

Nice and sturdy, it will make a great potting bench.

Looks really sturdy....you can either store a lot of "stuff" on that or like Kathy said pot flowers to your heart's content!

LOL! I love the broken chair "cat holder" but honestly... what ISN'T a cat holder? :) My whole house and everything in it is a cat holder. But back to the garden junk... I have a couple old drawers that I've used for planters too, they were used in the basement workshop area by the previous owner of the house. I needed a planter and used what was available! I think this is a great idea!!! I also saw my gf's bed.. she did it in 6 shutters painted green and it is stunning!!! Why not recycle cabinet doors? Great idea!

I'd just seal it. Unless you're ingesting the lead paint, it's not an issue, and presumably you won't be eating the headboard. ;-D I hope you'll post pictures! I've toyed with the idea of turning an old door (or something out of the ordinary) into a headboard myself. Would love to see how you did it.

A great save, sunnyca! This should last a long time ...and now you've painted it in your other post. Just think ...you saved it from the scrap or burn pile & it makes a wonderful storage/display pc of outdoor furniture! TFS! Jeanne s.

Luna, the results of my project are down the page"Pretty & painted headboard" if you want to see it after I painted it! Yes, they wanted to get rid of everything. House was being sold. I think I will put brick or something under the ends so that it isn't wet on bottom edge all the time. Jan
