almost lost my desert rose
Comments (7)Pinkflower, "to these little critters". If this means bugs, then treat them with water/soap spray or insecticidal soap spray to eliminate or have them move away. With your Adenium "waking up". If you are providing good sunlight and water only when dry. It is all up to the plant. You have to let your plant set the pace. When you see new growth starting, water a little and as the growth progresses, you can increase watering "as it dries back" and then start introducing fertilizing program. Sometimes we become anxious about getting them going. As I do and have to pull back and let them do there thing. Let everyone know how things progress. Hope I have helped a bit. Comments (8)Thank you all SO MUCH for helping me out. As far as the leaves changing color, they became a little more yellow than normal, and just began falling. It was almost overnight and it was bare. I did notice today that there is a bit of new growth near the top!!! =) So if it is dropping older leaves, will this happen each year? Should I prune it almost to the ground? I pruned it about half in size this year (the previous owners had never pruned at all according to a neighbor) should I do it more next year? About the rain, it rained more in late May and early June: I never imagined I could have watered it to much. My perenials in that bed havent suffered (keeping my fingers crossed) except for a hydrangea that also has yellow leaves. Again, thank you all for your help. I am taking all suggestions....See MoreMy rose has black spots on the leaves. What can I do?
Comments (0)Blackspot is a plant disease caused by wind borne fungus spores in water drops. They land on the top of the leaves and when growing looks like circular black spots with irregular edges. The infected leaves will finally turn yellow and drop off. If the disease is severe all the leaves will drop off and the plant will have to grow a new set. The quality of the blooms will suffer and the plant will be weakened. Blackspot can not be cured but it can be controlled. In climates where there is a lot of rain in the summer or high humidity it becomes more prevalent. Blackspot can be controlled best by spraying with a dormant oil and sulphur spray in the early spring before the bush leafs out. Then again in the early summer using at half the strength. There are also other ways to keep it control. Clean up all dead and fallen leaves, water when the sun will dry the leaves off or use drip or soaker type hoses, remove first six inches of leaves from the ground up so splashed water won't jump the spores on the leaves, plus feed and water plants well as a weak or stressed plant will succumb more quickly . Finally choose varieties that are disease resistant....See MoreICEBERG climbing rose lost all it's leaves
Comments (6)If I grew iceberg in Virginia, it would lose all of its leaves also because of blackspot fungus (BS). Some roses are more susceptible to BS than others. If you want leaves on your iceberg, you can spray it with a fungicide (tebuconazole is a good choice). Or you might prefer to replace your iceberg with a different, more BS resistant rose....See Morenanw_4wi
